Only for M35 for M45 will need to be custom.Blackzilla wrote:and FlawleZ are headers only made for the M35? looked on Motordyne and the M45 isnt even listed
Mybad, I meant to say member Dean45 on this forum on his header build.Blackzilla wrote:awesome thanks for the response
I know long tube headers are more for top end, shorter are for shorter distances (that's what I prefer). What's the best set-up to use if you want headers as well? Is the full Megan and headers ok? or will you lose power? The cats would stay on if you did the full Megan right?FlawleZ wrote:I'm assuming M35? Headers are of course helpful and with a good tune you can see good gains in the midrange and top end of the rpm range. The back pressure should be controlled with the exhaust setup. It's important to leave the cats in place if your concerned about back pressure.
Thanks for breaking down a good set-up @CPJ LB.CPJ LB wrote:I wouldn't mess with headers... just get the following mods if you're looking for usable performance:
1.Intake performance
Z Tube
5/16 plenum spacer
MREV2 (modified lower intake manifold) and Armid gasket
2. Exhaust performance
HFC's (get new or used that fit from G35's (VQDE motors)
Ypipe (since you have an X model, you may be limited but Megan makes one)
Mid-pipe
axle backs
3. UpRev Tune
4. lose weight on your car.....
When I was living in CA, I'd get my Megan exhaust parts directly from Megan...my buddy's shop is a few blocks from Megan and he and the owner are longtime friends....I posted this awhile back..
Good to know for the MREV2. Have you ever dyno'd your car? or track? Im curious what the quarter mile is with all these mods and uprev tune.CPJ LB wrote:^ no prob!! If you change your mind about the MREV2, I suggest getting a used one off of the G35 Forums - a lot cheaper!!
Another thing that I did with my M (and now with my G37X) is removed the spare tire in the trunk and placed a piece of MDF board (thin) underneath the cargo liner/board to provide support for the weight of groceries, luggage, etc...I think that spare tire weighed over 40lbs..? and when you swap out your exhaust system, it'll help reduce weight as well..... good luck and have fun modding!!

I've posted a lot of my mods here a few years back... Yes, I've dyno'd my car when I would get a tune or updated tune...The best that the car recorded was 291whp (approx 350hp at the crank)... I've done an 'unofficial' 0-60 run approx 5.3 seconds (good launch). I haven't gone to a track to run the quarter mile though.steelcity wrote:

I'm having a hard time getting the Megan exhaust. I can't find anything! I contacted Freddy a few weeks back but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. What should I do? How much is the Megan cat-back compared to the Stillen catback (which is going for $980 on their website).CPJ LB wrote:I wouldn't mess with headers... just get the following mods if you're looking for usable performance:

I checked them out blackzilla. I had seen your thread and went to their site to see if they had it, but all they had was the axle back. The thing is, I just want to order it and be done. I dont want to do this part now and then a month later do another and another. Just want to slap it on and get it over with.Blackzilla wrote:try THMotorsports.com they were really good when I ordered the Megan axle back
