Down pipes, Y-Pipe and Catback. Am I forgetting anything?

Also, does anyone here have headers?

Most places that 'say' they have the Megan in stock .... don't. They take your money and leave you waiting while they wait on a back order. I suggest you PM Freddy (MY06M45S). He is the best source for all things Megan. He can find out if there are any available, give you a price, and get it to your house.

Wow no sh1t? Thanks Larz. That would've been alot of unnecessary stress. I'll shoot him a pm. As far as the headers? Would they help or hurt the car? I dont know much about back pressure. Would the car lose too much air/power? Is DC the only header?

I'm assuming M35? Headers are of course helpful and with a good tune you can see good gains in the midrange and top end of the rpm range. The back pressure should be controlled with the exhaust setup. It's important to leave the cats in place if your concerned about back pressure.

Only for M35 for M45 will need to be custom.
Look up on the Titan forum, member Dean45 was in the process of making it, search up his thread.

Mybad, I meant to say member Dean45 on this forum on his header build.
But you can look up the Guys on Titan forum for headers.

I know long tube headers are more for top end, shorter are for shorter distances (that's what I prefer). What's the best set-up to use if you want headers as well? Is the full Megan and headers ok? or will you lose power? The cats would stay on if you did the full Megan right?

I wouldn't mess with headers... just get the following mods if you're looking for usable performance:

1.Intake performance
Z Tube
5/16 plenum spacer
MREV2 (modified lower intake manifold) and Armid gasket

2. Exhaust performance
HFC's (get new or used that fit from G35's (VQDE motors)
Ypipe (since you have an X model, you may be limited but Megan makes one)
Mid-pipe
axle backs

3. UpRev Tune

4. lose weight on your car.....

When I was living in CA, I'd get my Megan exhaust parts directly from Megan...my buddy's shop is a few blocks from Megan and he and the owner are longtime friends....I posted this awhile back..

Thanks for breaking down a good set-up @CPJ LB.

I do already have an Injen Intake, Lightweight Unorthodox Crank Pulley and the 5/16 Plenum Spacer. I wish I had known of the MREV2 before I installed the plenum spacer. Too much work to take that off now and re-do it (dam!! that's 15-20 HP right there too!!). So really for me it's the exhaust and tune that's left.

^ no prob!! If you change your mind about the MREV2, I suggest getting a used one off of the G35 Forums - a lot cheaper!!

Another thing that I did with my M (and now with my G37X) is removed the spare tire in the trunk and placed a piece of MDF board (thin) underneath the cargo liner/board to provide support for the weight of groceries, luggage, etc...I think that spare tire weighed over 40lbs..? and when you swap out your exhaust system, it'll help reduce weight as well..... good luck and have fun modding!!

Good to know for the MREV2. Have you ever dyno'd your car? or track? Im curious what the quarter mile is with all these mods and uprev tune.

I've posted a lot of my mods here a few years back... Yes, I've dyno'd my car when I would get a tune or updated tune...The best that the car recorded was 291whp (approx 350hp at the crank)... I've done an 'unofficial' 0-60 run approx 5.3 seconds (good launch). I haven't gone to a track to run the quarter mile though.

I've done some videos that you can check out for the sound of my exhaust set up I had a few years ago... search on Youtube: "M35 Sport Megan"

5.3 is not bad at all.

I was on the motordyne website and it says that the MREV2 combined with the spacer is about 20 HP. Spacer alone I think is pulling 12-15 HP.

I just want to see what else can be done before I do the tune. Exhaust is next though.

BTW: what's HFC's? high flow cats?

^correct, HFC's = hi flow cats...

Motordyne makes their version of test pipes called ART pipes if you really want to add more power... keep in mind, test pipes will produce more exhaust fumes than HFC's.

With your car being an X model, I don't think Motordyne makes their ypipe (called xyz pipe) for the X... that was a mod that I had on my car...very nice ypipe with interchangeable sections (resonator, HFC, or straight pipe)....

I'm having a hard time getting the Megan exhaust. I can't find anything! I contacted Freddy a few weeks back but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. What should I do? How much is the Megan cat-back compared to the Stillen catback (which is going for $980 on their website).

I checked them out blackzilla. I had seen your thread and went to their site to see if they had it, but all they had was the axle back. The thing is, I just want to order it and be done. I dont want to do this part now and then a month later do another and another. Just want to slap it on and get it over with.

ah so did they not have the mid pipe and the axle back in stock? or is there more that you wanted? and you mightve done this but have you called Megan to see if they have any in stock at all because from what THMotorsports told me is that you order from them but it gets shipped straight from Megan

To be honest. I havent called Megan. For the AWD model we need the Y-pipe and cat back right? Is the cat back the mid pipes and axle back? and I was told to get HFC's.

Hey Blackzilla, I was wrong. I did find the axle back and mid-pipes from THMotorsports. So finally! Placed the order.

The only thing I need now is some help getting a Y-Pipe and HFC's. The HFC's are expensive on Ebay!

Hopefully you get the product. THMotorsport has a terrible reputation in the aftermarket parts industry and not just for not having products in stock but they are notorious for violating MAP policy and pricing agreements and are blacklisted with many product manufacturers because they don't play by the rules so to speak. Many companies will not stand behind the warranty on the product if purchased through them as well.

nice steelcity! TOMatBMR I ordered from them and received the product in about 6 days if that. as for the warranty I sent in my warranty paperwork to Megan headquarters and it came back undeliverable so I have no say with that. but THMotorsports pricing was good vs others so I am completely satisfied with them. I hope you have the same success steelcity
