So this is probably the worst question ever posted in this forum, and yes, I'm embarrassed, but I've got paint and disassembled valve covers. I hesitate to just shoot the paint with them completely unprepped, but is there anything else I can do? The Q valve covers' crevices rival the most complex.

I'll have access to a sandblaster Monday, but I'd like to get them done tomorrow.

I had mine sandblasted because the ugly gold was coming off and there were rust spots. The guy who blasted them said he couldn't believe how tough that stuff was. It seemed like it was about 3 layers thick too.

Brake clean will take the finish off the valve covers.(Don't ask how I know)

I just hit them with brake cleaner, wiped them down and sprayed. It's held up good so far even when I had gas shoot all over them.

I took to mine with a wire wheel, then painted them with many coats of VHT white paint.

I ended up wire-wheeling it and spraying several coats of high-temp red (white chassis).

I see what you guys mean about not looking so good once it gets in the car. It's going to be so hard to keep them nice and pretty, haha.
