Hey there all u audio experts =P So I just had a deck installed with an Alpine M500 amp and 10" Type S sub installed... I only want an extra 'oph' of bass nothing too crazy, but enough to be like 'thats a lotta bass, but its nice and clean' kinda sound. Notheless, right now I feel like I could handle more lol. My question is, which way should I go tho?

1. Possibly tune the sub I have right now higher/louder (if that's possible?)

2. Get a 10" Type R instead.

3. Get a 12" Type S

I've listened to my friend's 12" Type R and I know for a fact that was too much bass for me, but I'm not sure which way I should go from the above. Any help would be much appreciated! Thx guys

I would say tune the amp first, then if that doesnt do it for you look into different equipment. Also, I wouldnt gauge the Type R off of your friends set-up. What kind of car does he/she have it in? Throw it into your trunk and see how it sounds there, I can almost guarantee its not going to be the same.

Applebonker did a nice write up on amp tuning in the FAQs, that would be my first move.

Are you using the stock radio or an aftermarket head unit. If you are using the stck like me the head unit reduces the amount of power to the speakers themore you turn it up to prevent blowing. The shop told me to get this thing called a RE'Q, It goes between the amp and head unit and restores the power to the subs only, to get a better bass response. Check with your local shop about it and they will explain it. Or if they suck and dont know about it then check the internet about it. Dont go to best buy for info either. It was about $60 for me a year ago.

+1. If you're using the stock stereo, switch that s*** out ~ huge difference.
