I have an uncle (who runs our family's business) who basically cannot write or type due to heath issues, and he's got quite a few things he needs to write up in the coming months. He saw a TV ad for Dragon voice recognition software, and I think once he gets the hang of it, he might really be able to get some good use out of it. Especially since he cannot write, having voice recognition software would help him jot down notes and other things of that nature.

He can use the computers mouse, but I'm guessing his typing would allow him to type about 1-2 words per minute.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

I hear good stuff about Dragon and it's way cheaper now than it used to be.

Thanks Brian. Does anyone else have any good or bad feedback on anything else?

I looked into this sort of software awhile back when I was doing more writing than I am these days. I doubt he'll need the premium version, so the "home" version is like 80 bucks or something like that. There's also windows speech recognition. Which comes with Win 7 and up. It gets mixed reviews, but it might already be on his pc. Just something he can try out.

Personally Dragon is the way to go. All of the programs have a learning curve, but Dragon has a buttload of functionality once you get everything figured out.

Definitely didn't know that! I'll have to get a microphone and see how that works.
