I'm looking for the best value (cheapest reliable) brake pads for our 2008 Rogue SL

I found these:Front http://www2.partstrain.com/sto....html

Rear http://www2.partstrain.com/sto....html

And these:http://brakeperformance.com/si...91809

And I've also found pads from Bendix - CQ, Raybestos - Pro Grade, Monroe - Ceramics and Wagner - ThermoQuiet for value prices all here at Rock Auto: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

What are everyone's thoughts and suggestions?

This car is our grocery getter and my girlfriend's going to work car. I'm thinking that we want ceramic pads but I'm open to all suggestions and also thoughts about what are some good sites to purchase from. Thanks

Honestly, OEM Nissan brake pads are not that expensive and are of very good quality. You can't go wrong with them.

If you want aftermarket, my best suggestion is Satisfied Brakes/Performance - Pro Ceramic:

I have used these pads on my wife's Protege and they have held up very well. They are good pad for all around driving. No noise, minimal dust, and they wear very well. They are also kind to brake rotors and I have not experienced any rotor warping while using them.

Bottom Line: Don't cheap out on brake pads. The few bucks you save using cheap pads could cost you a lot more down the road. i.e. poor brake performance, warped rotors, etc.

Thanks for your help. I agree that you dont want to cheap out. I was just hoping that you wouldnt have to spend $200 to get some basic reliable pads. Where is a good place to buy the Nissan OEM pads?

Hey OriginalFreeride, how many miles do you have on your car, just curious how long the original pads lasted.

I'm also wondering what the options are for purchasing OEM pads, myself I'd go to NAPA and AutoValue parts stores first and see what they've got, but I kinda doubt they'd have OEM......

Hey, well we have 29,000 miles on it but I dont think the pads are due to be replaced yet. I just want to get them so that I'll be ready to change them when it's time. I know the brakes are due to be cleaned though because they've started squealing off and on at slow rolling stops.

Just like mine. They started to whistle and giving a slight vibration at 28k mi. And right now it 32k miles.

So did you take everything apart and clean them? And are you still on the original pads?

I managed to warp the rotors on mine. A couple of months after I posted the Brake Cleaning DIY, I replaced the rotors. Admittedly the rotor warp was from some very hard stops... not necessarily a fault of the pad or rotor itself. Anytime you panic stop or stop quickly then sit stationary with the brakes applied, you are likely to have this sort of problem. The old racers trick is to let the car creep instead of stopping... this allows the rotor cool without the pads staying in one position.

BTW, I have about 41,000mi (69,000km) on the odometer. I drive a lot of highway so my brake pads last a fairly long time. I figure I'll get another 15k mi. before replacement is due.

Yeah, thats good advice. Right now I'm wondering if you really need to spend $200 for good pads. I've heard some good things about Hawk and EBC. You can usually get all 8 pads in about the $150 range with those I think. I was really more excited to find some in the $75-100 range though.

Talking about brake pads...took car in for service and dealer said I got 9mm / 6mm left on the front/rear pad... I was like WTF? I only have 13000km (8100 mi) on the car with about 70/30 city/highway driving.

I'm not a hard braker at all! my old car (protege5 stick shift) rotor had to be machine because I brake too lightly!!!

anyways, dealer said sometimes the outter layer gets wore quickly and I should get more mileage on the brake pads...yikes!

Anyone else experiencing rear brake wore out faster than front?
