Hello All,

I am interested in finding the best ultra-high performance tires for the 350Z.I am at the point where I am ready to replace only my rears tires on the 350Z track. I am thinking to step up rear size to 275/35ZR-18 on the rear NISMO Alloy wheels with 18x9.5J.I am wondering what people have been running and what has been best?My primary use of the car is on the street and since I am in the Northwest,I still need good wet traction! I definitely don't want to go with the Potenza 040 that Nissan supplied. I am after best combo of dry and wet handling..and reasonable wear factor.

Has anyone used:Toyo Proxes T1R?Potenza 050 Pole?Michilin Pilot PS2?Kumho ECSTA SPTNITTO?

You will get a lot of opinions on this one especially from the ricers. Its a good question though. For general street use there are many brands that will do and a lot of times you get what you pay for. You mention Michelin PS 2 which are fairly new compared to the original Pilot Sports but are the cream of the crop, however a little pricey. I road race a lot and have seen a lot of junk out there. I use strictly Michelin, and Pirelli as a second choice. Either way you go, I highly suggest Tire Rack to purchase from. Best selection and prices. Just avoid Goodyear as they have an extremely soft compound and will last the least on mileage.

Seen a lot of tire comparos in magazines and the michilins always seem to come out on top, or close to it. They'd be my choice, for what its worth

I have the potenzas on the rear of my car. they are good but dont have very much grip.... (400 treadwear). they dont wear fast, bought mine back in april and dont show too much sign of wear. if you are looking for a cheaper tires on track days... i hear the dunlops are good for that. When my front tires wear out (i have the stock on the front b/c i bought another set of wheels and tires and i slapped those on when i bought the 050's) im gonna get these in the front... if you have the VDC system though you might want to find a slightly more grippy tire. I turn my VDC off to avoid overusing it b/c the tires chirp on the launch and shifts sometimes.

If you're looking for an ultra-hight performance tire for your 350, you might want to look at the the Toyo RA-1. It's considered a competition tire, but it is DOT rated and has a deep tread pattern...

just a thought...

my uncle has 255front/275rear/35/18" michelin pilot ps2 on his vr-4 spyder, and they are by far the sexiest tires ive ever driven with. they have some serious grip at high speeds wide turns, and although the z is rear wheel drive, the 3000gt isnt the best handling awd so there wasnt a horrible difference in handling between them before he put them on. i could definately notice a difference after wards... and we did try to put them on mine... bolts didnt match up right

i give em two thumbs up
