What is the best and most reliable t3/t4 turbo kit for a 1994 240sx se under 1300? And will it be a full kit? or will I need a few more parts? if so what are they? Thank you.

If you want to spend that little, you're going to have to piece everything together by collecting mostly used parts.

^ +1.... if yur gonna cheap out, at least buy a real turbo... I had a godspeed kit that was fairly cheap, found a few extra parts that were needed, and the only thing that broke was the turbo...

The only "kit" I can think of even close to that little is the Isis turbo kit they have on enjuku for $1400 ( http://www.enjukuracing.com/products/%2 ... 52d98.html ) , and even that's hardly complete - only includes turbo header, turbo unit, o2 housing, downpipe, intercooler and piping, and filter kit IIRC - does NOT include the other important things like upgraded MAF, injectors, fuel control, gauges, oil feed and drain, etc...

Unless I'm mistaken, if you're looking for a true drop-in set-it-and-forget-it turbo kit, you're looking at more like $3k and up.

Also def don't skimp on the turbo. As exciting as it is to get everything done quick fast and in a hurry and have a fun car already, it's really better in the long run to save up for quality parts and do things right, ONCE, rather than now, and again later, and again after that... :gotme

You can Ebay most of your parts and get almost a complete kit from Chinese knock off type products. The only item I'd buy, like mentioned above, would be a decent used turbo. Something by Holset would be my choice. They are abundant on ebay and for a pretty decent price.

8psi and a 8:1 FMU and a little timing retard at the dizzy will have you running reliably.

Randomly, I saw a thread where you said this in 09, earlier today.

I've been considering trying to set up a tiny turbo for <8psi, given that it seems to be the "stuff gets a lot harder" level, and given that I'd rather have boost all the time than a lot of bost in driving conditions that I never encounter (just want a fun daily).

Are you saying that a decent, safe, reliable system as you describe, can be had for the OP's budget?

The $$ goes up as you increase the power goals...that's a no brainer. But if you're going to be at or below 8 psi you can safely use a FMU like I suggested. That eliminates the need for a new MAF, ROM tune and bigger injectors. The FMU is around $110 from Vortec the last time I looked. I'd also recommend a new 255lph fuel pump, I believe Summit has them for $89.

At this point you have to choose what FMIC kit you're going to use. I was browsing Ebay yesterday and found a couple of kits that range from a few hundred bucks to over $1000.

One of the keys to doing things on the cheap depends greatly on your mechanical ability. I don't mind taking things apart, rebuilding stuff, welding etc. So I can do things a lot cheaper than say some dude who lives an apartment and has to rely solely on bolt-on parts.

With that said, I could probably turbo my S14 reliably for $1500.
