What shop would you guys recommend for tuning sr20det with a power fc in portland area. I live in tri-cities washington so either portland or spokane.

I tried posting it in the regional forum but there is really no action there.

Fairlady motors/U.P. Garage does good work, they are in Tacoma. Give them a call, Doug is the shopowner/tuner.

honestly i dont like Doug. I wanted to buy my sr from him and he got an attitude when i was asking him questions. So they lose my business for life. Thanks for the info though.

Yeah, I've talked to Doug before and he does come off as rude. I've dealt with Eric over there and he's pretty cool though, but I don't blame you if you don't want to do business with U.P. Garage.

I know there's also Axiom in Lakewood, next to Tacoma. http://www.axiommotorsports.com/ They deal with a lot of Honda's and AWD cars, but I know they do 240's also.

Then there's Unnatural Inc in Beaverton, OR. (503) 626-2177 I know they tune 240's and have their own dyno too.

I understand, I used to work there, however the main reason I would recommend them over other shops is because many of these other shops dont have the experience required to tune cars, they just claim to.

Doug just doesnt have the greatest people skills, even I used to get into it with him, but he does know his stuff. I know that at the moment they are working on trying to become an authorized Power Excel dealer/tuner, since Intec up the street which is the only one in WA isnt that great. But Unnatural is a dealer so maybe you could try them, my advice would be to stick to the authorized dealers since they should know what they are doing.

What about VIP Performance or PRE Racing? Both of these guys use the 3rd party software datalogit. I talked with both of them on the phone and Ryan (tuner) from VIP was super friendly. The guy from PRE was kinda pushy on the phone kinda gave me the impression i was wasting his time asking questions. But they both seemed to know what they were talking about.

A lot of guys on northwestnissans likes Unnatural. They've had dyno specials for members too. I've personally never had experience with Unnatural because I when I lived there, U.P. Garage was a lot closer.

U.P.Garage really knows their stuff and you can feel safe to let them tune your car. Once you're a paying customer, you get a lot better service. If you just call up Doug and ask him questions over the phone, he usually gets annoyed because they stay pretty busy. He prefers you to just bring your car in.

Doug is the man, He personally delivered my sr20 clip to Portland for $100. He even found someone to buy my left over clip for $450! Give them a 2nd chance, they do the best work, and have the best product around.

Also, I believe Unnatural is PowerFC certified.

What have you heard about VIP Performance, Unnatural or PRE Tuning?

If I were you, I'd check the regional section. If that doesn't work, then check with northwestnissans. There'll be people there with a lot more reviews on the local shops. I know most will recommend you to take your car to U.P. Garage though.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad everything worked out for you. I know I've heard good things about Unnatural on other forums. I've always wanted to check them out too. I've been thinking about going stand alone like the Apexi PFC myself. So how long, how much money and how much hp did you get out of the tune? My car's running good right now, but it's slightly on the rich side. I'd like to get some cams, so I'll need a tune, but I don't want another mail order tune just to get a sooted bumper again.

the first tune on apfc is 4 hrs min at 150 an hr. Wes the owner/tuner is very cool and worked out a good deal with me. I was having boost creep and i was only able to get tuned at 10 psi and i made 268 whp and 255 tq. But whats cool is i get to go back and get a free retune.

Those are pretty good numbers for only 10 psi. What's your engine set up?
