Cams. And all the other supporting mods: Intake, header, exhaust, a little more timing advance, etc...

BTW, a KA only does about ~7000rpm safely unless you do something drastic with the crank, so what's your "top end" goal???

And how much HP you shooting for?

Let us know, and we can better help you out.

I think my light weight flywheel helped out on the top end as well. Also, get rid of that dumb mechanical fan on the front and put on an electric with a thermostat. Maybe consider underdrive pulleys although I have no experience with them. Of course some nice synthetic oil, too can help a little.

midnightclubbaaguy...

There's a lot of good info on this forum as to max HP, and good mods...

I'd say search a little.

But +160 rear wheel HP is aboutthe max for a street car with a bolt-on KA...so shoot for that.

It'll get you low 15 seond timeslips at 91-93mph, FYI.

a JWT retune, some more aggressive cams and possibly valvesprings, intake, header, and as large an exhaust as you can stand, maybe taking out the butterflies in the intake manifold....without going into the internals thats about the most I'd want to do. Now if you put in forged rods and higher compression pistons, and an esoteric ITB set up... well, that could be fun too.But anyway with the first setup I mentioned you could always add a little shot of nitrous to give you some extra power.

Here is what you can do

WAI -> bigger TB -> Port Intake Manifold -> Remove Secondary Butterfly -> Remove AVI -> Port Head -> Higher Compression Pistons -> Aggressive Cams -> 4-1 headers -> high flow cat -> low restriction exhausts

Upgrade ignition and electrical system, light weight everything (pulley, flywheel, driveshaft, rims)

Weight reduction will help allot.
