I bought my G35 about 4 weeks ago... and I just can't control my desire to spin the sh*t out of the rear wheels. Well, I'm now in the market for new rear tires.

I'm currently on Goodyear Eagle RSA W-rated rubber on 17 inch wheels. These are the only tires I've experienced on the car and am fairly happy with them, but hope someone else who has tried several different sets can give me some feedback.

Is anyone extremly pleased with their tires?

Has anyone come across a good tire comparison recently?

After today, I realized my car sucks in the snow... I'll probably get winter tires for next year. Would you advise getting an all-season tire, or an all out performance tire and a seperate winter set? Is there a good combo of both out there? I'm am happy running on 17's, but would consider getting 18's if there is a substantial increase in performance.

Thanks for your help,

Nathan

Nathan, I'm a real big fan of the BFG KDW's for the G and Z-car. Chet (Exar-Kun) can probably tell you more, but they're a nice tire for your application.

Read the tire review thread in Infiniti General.

"All-Season" is tire makers marketing code for not very good performing tires in either summer nor snow. Get an extra set of wheels and mount winter tires on them and Summer tires on your primary set.

KDW are really good new, but like Kumhos, get really noisy and not so good after the halfway point. All tires degrade with use, the question is how much.

Since your tires are the only thing that contact the road determine braking and road holding limits, not to mention safety, don't skimp here unless your life is cheap.

RSA are one fo the worst. Look at the highest (and therefore most expensive) performing tires by major manufacturers. Michelin, Pirelli, Goodyear, Bridgestone. Read a lot at TireRack, both tests and user reviews. The BMW 330i they use are close to G35 in weight, so the tests are relevant.

I'm basing my opinion on the four tires I've used on my Coupe;

Michelin Pilot Sports-------SUCK ! Bridgestone SO3 Pole Position------quieter, more responsive, better grip than the Michelins. Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position, AWESOME !

Put on my Hoosier A3S04's (track use only) WOOO HOOO !!

I found the Pilot sports to be quieter in the long run. The S03's were definitely nice, but you can feel the tire's extra weight over the Pilot Sports. The S03's were especially nice since I got them brand new for $500.

I'm currently running some RE040's. They are decent performers, but certainly not as good as the PS or S03's. But whose complaining when you get them used for 500 miles with a set of Z touring wheels. =P

I'd love to try out the Pilot Sport 2's...

PS2 are truly amazing, as they should be for the price. Don't confuse with earlier PS. The best Goodyears are close and preferred by some in certain appllications. Everything else is at least half a step behind. Especially in the wet.

I've had Yoko A4's before, and they were pretty good. Any good choices for low profile 19's?

Heartily agreed!

Both our cars have it.

The RSA's are crap, that is what I had originally on mine. I've since gone with the Yokoham AVS ES1000 and I've been very pleased with them.
