I have a M37S with the 20" wheels and it is time for new tires. Looking for recommendations. Honestly, I don't drive it too hard. Therefore, I'm looking for tires with the least amount of road noise. Comfort and sports handling are secondary.

Any recommendations? TIA

You should try the new Pirelli Cinturato tires I saw yesterday on Tirerack.

The ratings on this tire and the scores TireRack gave it are freakin out of this world. If I wasn't going to a dedicated summer/winter set, these would be my next purchase. Hell, they might be my winter set.

Apparently, the pirelli's are discontinued. Discount tire looked all over the DFW metroplex and were able to round up 4 of them. I got them for 180 a piece. Getting them installed later this evening.

Weird, I hadn't noticed those tires before so I thought they were brand new to the lineup. Dang.

I feel the same way. I'm looking for quiet tires that will last me. Not sure what to go with after reading ratings and consumer reviews. :gotme
I'm assuming that all-season tires will be the quietest.
I was looking at the Hankook Ventus S1 noble2, Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus, or Continental ExtremeContact DWS.
Hopefully somebody will send us some help before I pull the trigger on one of these :rotflmao

DWS's aren't quiet. I'm going to be ordering the S1 Noble2's myself soon. And the Cinturato's are evidently discontinued.

I've been very happy with Bridgestone S-04's. I personally haven't had a tire set that performed better on both wet/dry road conditions. You sacrifice tread life, but that's expected for a performance oriented tire. I've logged about 20K and I'm really hoping to squeeze out another 3-5K miles. Road noise is comparable to stock in my opinion.

Really tempted to get another set but also willing to give the Conti DW a try.

I had a set of the Conti Extreme Contact DW on both my Work's and my factory Sport wheels, and I really don't think i'll be going back with them next time. Initially they were quiet and handled very well, but towards the end of their life they are growing louder and louder. They still handle well, and surprisingly, for my car to be lowered to the height that it is, the tires don't show any significant signs of camber wear.

If it's appropriate for me to post this here, I have a brand new set of four Continental Contisportcontact3 245/40/20 tires with stickers on sitting covered in my barn. I would sell them for $800 plus I'll split the shipping costs.

I moved from hankook 255/35 20 to Pirelli centurato p7 AS plus 240/45 20 and the difference is pretty dramatic in ride quality. Noise is improved, but not as much as I had hoped. Handling is still very good too. Glad I chose these.

Funny, i feel the same way about the S-04's. Incredible performance but road noise sucks especially after some treadwear. I'm willing to give the DW's a try but only because the tread rating is a bit better. the noise on the S-04's are tolerable but definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Pics of the 255s?

I was thinking of going wider. Also - I had S04's on my Z roadster...but only had them on for about 2k before I traded the car. they were quiet - but have heard get noisy with wear.

Seriously considering the S-04s. I have the Conti DWS's now, and they tend to break away in the rear during semi-hard cornering in the wet.

I ordered the S04s and they are in - but i'm reconsidering and might send them back. I want quiet. And I also want a little wider - 255 or 265.

Oh, decisions decisions.

My 255's tended to grab grooves and pull the car more. At times it felt like I was fighting the car to keep it straight. That was with the Hankook eVo's. Going back to the Pirelli 245's improved that significantly. Slightly less cornering performance, but so worth the trade off.

The Hankook EVo's are known for pulling, but I believe our cars are prone to do that regardless of the tire. My Michelin Pilot super sports (discontinued) pulled sometimes when coming to a stop depending on how level the road was in the last few feet of stopping. The Conti DWS are very good in wet and are a quiet tire, but they don't feel as connected to the road and respond slower than other tires I've used. The Hankook s1noble2's very rarely pull, but they still do it. These are my favs because they closer to the Michelin Pilot super sports for ride and handling, but are much quieter and less expensive. I haven't driven on Pirellis, but they are standard on the sporty Jag models so they must be good quality.

As a resident of Washington State, I would beg to differ about the wet weather handling that the DWS's exhibit. They give up way too easily in corners, and constantly allow the TC to kick in. Very irritating!

The DWS is an acceptable tire. Good grip and traction, but terrible sidewall flex (also very prone to rupture from impacts). I speak from experience.

I have the Conti DW which is purely a high-performance summer tire. It is absolutely superb in every respect. Extremely quiet, and extremely grippy. I love them.

I ended up going with the Nitto Motivo's (ultra high performance A/S with a 60K mileage warranty) this past weekend. I was really hoping to move towards the Conti DW's but was advised they are soon to be discontinued. Also, the DW's performance wise would be on par with my S-04's but wouldn't improve much with treadlife which was expected. S-04's were incredible but I really need my tires to make it past 20K before replacement.

So far so good. Priced right (discount tire) and the reviews have been pretty good. I'll check back in with an update after i get some miles logged.
