Hello,It's time for my I30t to have new tires. Any good suggestion? I live in Minnesota, so 6 out of 12 months I see lots of snow! I am thinking about getting the Bridgestone Turanza LS-T. Anyone of you know any good tire that can handle well on highway and in snow and run really quiet?? Any suggestions are welcome...

dude i have BFGoodrich comp T/A on my car. I live in New England and i see just about as much snow you do. The tire is an H-rated Performance all-season tire. its an above average tire, good wet/dry traction. For the buck!($56 a piece @ Tirerack.com) really good snow traction. long treadwear...and very quiet on the freeway.

top it all off...I'm pretty sure all I30t's came with T/A out of the factory too.

If it's at al possiple I would go with a dedicated snow tire in a Minnesota winter. Can be MUCH cheaper in the long run as accidents can be EXPENSIVE, even if small.

I sure wish I'd had some winter tires on my gorgous Q45 last christmas.. (sigh)

Anyway, in the summer performance tires really come into their own and wont get cooked by the heat as much as all seasons do.

A good winter tire for early Nov thru late March in MN are Blizzaks, a good summer tires Micheln Pilots + Michelin pilots Sports , also Firestone firehawk SZ50EP

Fred...:)

Modern snow tires are going to give you about 40-60% better traction on snow and ice than the best all-season tires. Americans have been convinced by years of advertising $$$ that all-seasons make sense. More and more people are starting to realize that they don't for most areas where there is snow/ice. They are a huge compromise at best. Those how have used winter snow tires will never go back to all-seasons. Granted, you have to have a second set of tires but the first $500.00 insurance deductable and they pay for themselves. The Turanza LS-T is going to be the minimum I would reccomend for a tire. The T speed rating is the rock bottom you want to run on the car. It has more to do with how the tire is constructed than how fast you are ever going to drive. A T rated tire is going to have far less sidewall and tread reinforcement than the stock H rated tires and will not give you the same stability and margin of safety. I would look at the H rated version if you decide to stick with an all-season tire. The best setup would be something like the Blizzaks or Pilot Alpins for Winter and a nice Touring tire for the rest of the year. Feel free to give me a call direct and we can talk options.

pilot aplin would be a very nice winter tire, and you *could* run it during leate fall to early spring without too much problem, thens wap them out for some nice high-performance tires(H-rated minimum please.)-chet
