NOTE: This is for a Chevrolet Corsica.

I've been running the oem size that came on the car (185/75-14) and those size tires suck, they break loose easily and the sidewalls bend easily. What's a optimal tire size for these 14" steelies? 205/70-14? 195/70-14? Thanks...

You have 14" wheels? HAHA! Have fun finding cheap tires. Stupid oddball sizes.

Remember that changing sidewall height will mess with spedometer and odometer readings.

Those are TALL tires, though. Too much sidewall for me.

Personally, I'd just buy some crappy steelies in a more common size, like 15x6.5. Then you can get some 205/60/15s and not sacrifice much dire circumference while loosing sidewall height.

Here, check this thing out:http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Well, I was asking because I need new tires ASAP, because we're driving down to Universal Studios. I don't have the time nor money to buy other steelies right now.

You should be perfectly fine with the 190/70s. I think the 205s would probably be too wide.

70 won't loose a lot of height, so I don't see it being a problem. You can stick with 75 if you want, but I don't see any reason you can't drop to 70 either.

Oops, I meant 195 not 190

I'm assuming it's a 6.5 or 7 inch rim, with 185mm wide stock tires.

You need to know information like that, and why it's relevant before you even think about tire shopping...

Stock SE S13 alloys come with a 205/60 on a 15x6 wheel. From my experience, oem tires are always considerably oversized, from a performance stance.

Don't waste money on tires for a car that wasn't built for performance handling. Any middle of the road tire will do.

No, the question was vague and I didn't know what I was comparing the width of the rim too.

How is it "wasting" money to want the best size for more performance? I'm not looking to make a drag monster or anything, just something a little more sterdy and that will handle better.

Yeah, that's what I'll have to do. Apparently, one of my oem steelies are bent. I'll get some Z24 wheels, or grand prix wheels or something equivalent.

Oh, and you guys don't understand....I didn't CHOOSE this car, it was free and I didn't have any other options. So you have to excuse me for wanting to make this car the LEAST bit more interesting.

Like I found out that I can use a caviler's strut bar...LOL

Really? I'd expect the Corsica's stut towers to be farther apart than those on the midget Cavalier...

lol...It's just that I have to take a turn/corner TOO slow so that the car doesn't lean too much, and also so that the tires don't buckle. I just want some wider tires too, for more traction...these tires are skinny as hell.

I had a friend in high school who had "the corsica." It was full of pop cans and 12 pack boxes and other trash. One time we had too many people to fit in the Maxima and the Corsica, so we crammed a dude in the Corsica's trunk. Which was also full of trash and pop. He drove for something like 6000 miles without an oil change. Now...you might get away with that on a good new engine--even my old VG would probably manage since it doesn't leak or consume oil.

But this thing seized on him at 55mph (actually, knowing him, it was probably closer to 90) on the highway due to oil starvation.

So he popped another motor in it and kept on truckin'. Carrin'. Somethin'.

theyre probably 14x5

id definately recommend going to a bigger wheel, find a nice oem wheel thats like a 15x6.5 or 15x7, maybe even a 16

i dont see the corsica needing 185/75 tires, thats huge, like q45 huge

id say go to tire rack and see what they have for you, they can also give you sizes and whatnot
