best technique to remove driveshaft bolts

Liquid Wrench is your friend. Make sure you use a socket with that matches EXACTLY to the bolt. Not just the size, but number of points as well if it's really tight/rusty. You can use a breaker bar if you have room, just be careful.

yeah, you have to use one on either side, otherwise the whole thing will twist. When I did my differential I had to take out a ton of bolts like this, but once you get in the groove it isn't bad at all. PB Blaster will do great for breaking all that rust off.

Might help if you put the car in gear and engage the emergency brake.
