Hello all,

I want to change my suspension but not sure if I should go with springs or coil overs (kinda expensive) trying to get good handling for the buck. Also, does it mater if I have the sports suspension package from the dealer?

I'm a neb so forgive me for the dumb questions.

Thanks!

I had to click on your username to figure out if your a sedan or coupe owner. Thankfully you list that info, you've got a 2006 coupe. On the question about does it matter if you you have the sport suspension package, it can matter for some aftermarket springs, but it's much less of a isssue then if you were a sedan owner asking the same quesition.

IMO, no matter what, get a set of aftermarket adjustable sway bars.

If you just want to drop the car a 1" or less and your after a mild to moderate increase in handling, you can just go with springs.

But, if you want to drop more then 1" and your to really kick the handling up, carefully choosen coilovers are the way to go.

Hey, I definately suggest springs since you're on a budget. I'm not really on a budget but I don't race too often (maybe once over 2 months) so all I need is a moderate suspension setup. I'm probably going to go w/ tein s. techs and some shocks (not sure which ones, kyb agx's? maybe).

Let me know if u have any ?'s

Ya, I'm runnin Tokico D-Specs shocks and Eibach Pro-kit lowering springs and I love em. You can adjust the shocks with a key(basically an allen wrench) and adjust them from track stiff to OEM smooth. And the springs are the perfect drop IMO, at least with my 19's.

As far as the topic, I'd say springs are a good choice. The G already rides fairly low stock so coilovers are a waste IMO unless you're gonna be putting in some major track time. Also remember, if you go very low at all, you'll have to also upgrade you suspension (to adjust for camber and toe). So make sure you know what the springs are going to do the the suspension other than just lower it. Good luck! And pics when your finished!

Ehh go with springs...

With the rears on the G35 the springs are separate from the shocks anyway so coilovers amount to just a different set of springs and a better shock in the rear..

Also you can't lower the G more then 1.5 inches anyway without making the car nearly undriveable on normal streets. As is I bottom out on nearly every speedbump.

The fronts however are spring on strut design. Coilover may help the fronts but unless you're planning on tracking the car all the time it's not needed.

I personally feel that springs and adjustable struts in the way to go.

DO NOT BUY G35 H-techs or S-Techs if you want performance. They are softer then stock.. kind of counter productive ehh??

350Z H-techs however are stiffer then stock and lower the G slightly more.. With the spring mount mod it's a nearly perfect drop.

So everyone would recommend springs over coil-overs... I'm looking to up the handling, get rid of the body roll, and make her look better, yet still will be driven daily...

350z h-techs, adj struts & adj sway bars...

I have a 08-G37s 6MT .. so you say that the Tein H is NOT more stiff than the stock? If that's the case what's the best spring for the G37s?
