My S13 will probably never see the track. For the 5 years I've owned it however, I have enjoyed every moment. The FR layout and ample low end torque with the KA24DE make it a great ride to zip around town in. However, being that it is an S13, it's showing its age.

Aside from new bushings, what shocks/springs combination would be the best for spirited daily driving? I'm looking for a setup that will give me ample wheel travel and not be too stiff so that it can handle the imperfect city streets without rattling the car to pieces.

Currently I'm running stock shocks/struts with Eibach Springs, a coil cut from the rear to make it sit a little lower on my 5lug 16" stock S14 SE wheels.

I'm thinking...

KONI adjustable shocks350lbs in the front (6kg?)250lbs in the back (5kg?)

What about KYB or Tokiko's for the struts/shocks?Has anyone used Megan Racing lowering springs?

thanks,-d

It depends on how much you want to spend. Are you looking a complete suspension set up? Well, here's my sugestions for a complete suspension set up.

Shocks: TOKICO HP Series(Adjustable/Non-adjustable which ever you think is better for daily driving)Springs: Tein S. TechBushings: Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex Bushing Kit(Complete Set)Strut Bar: APEXi front and rear strut bars.

I don't know if you're going to want to put that much time or money into your car, but just incase I gave you my suggestions anyway. There's also Front and Rear Sway Bars, Control Arms, Tractions Rods, Tie Rods, Tension Rods, and other suspension parts that I didn't bother including.

Tein S.Tech Springs:Front: 3.7kg / 207lbsRear: 3.2kg / 179lbs

Tokiko non-adjustables run around 400 dollars and the springs would be 200 dollars. That's not really outrageous. I just don't want to spend a grand+ on coilovers. Besides the adjustable KONI's I was looking at would be 600.

Does anyone know what the spring rates were stock? Might be in the FSM, but despite its size I seem to have misplaced mine.

look in the suspension forum, it's in there

Go with Koni's, match it up with a set of RS*R Race Springs and you'll be set.

I have:

Springs - KYB GR-2 ($230)Struts - Tein S. Tech ($175)Sway Bars - Suspension Techniques ($230)Front Strut Bar - Pilot ($40)

For $675 the cars handles fantastic and the ride isn't too harsh. However, the front strut bar didn't do to much (I hear the rear is great though for the s13 fastbacks) and I can't get my sway bars to stop creaking.

The GR-2's or Tokio Blues are non adjustable, but still performance oriented. From what I've heard, there dampening is around the stiffness of the adjustables on level 3 of 5.
