Unfortunately your questions are alittle too ambigous.

I'll take a guess at the second one first. If you're referring to a 240sx with the "active" speakers, in the rear of the car and it's by the right hand side speaker, than that would most likely be the amp.

For the first question, you'll need to provide a little more info, but as for "speakers" in general Focal makes some great peices, but who's got ~$1,200 for a set of components. Yes, they have some for much less, but you asked about the best speakers .

Based on the pics of the QX4 rear bose amp removal, I think yu're describing the amp.

my MB Quart 6.5" premium components are really nice, now that they are broken in. My MB Quart 5 1/4" reference sound like ***. They can't handle any bass. I need to run then though an amp, or a crossover at least, to remove the bass from them. Theres always something. Remember that if you get really good speakers your going to need an amp. It adds up real quick.

Best speakers ever are the ones that make you want to head bang to White Snake on any given day. They evoke emotion into the hearts of their listeners. There are many brands that can do this. Mostly it all comes down to personal preference. Many people can jam to simple upgrades, but other unfortunate people like me that have an insatiable obsession with pure sound have to go to the far reaches of the earth to get anywhere close to sonic nirvana.

So in other words... whatever does it for ya!

If you wanna upgrade your speakers, you should be able to do that a couple of different ways. The simplest way would be to have a shop put them in for you, but that could easily eat up most of your $200. Since the speakers are already "powered" by the amp, simply tap into the existing (in the door) wires and install new speakers. I think $200 is ALOT if you aren't upgrading everything. Think high performance tires on an econo-box.

Find a place that carries at least 2 of the 3 you've mentioned (MB, Focal, Infinity) and do some side by side comparisons with the same power. I think any of the 3 will give you good sound, let your ears and price drive your decision, but don't overlook Pioneer co-axials just cause they aren't upper end.

Don't forget Alpine, CDT, Adire Audio Kodas, and a few others out there. I'm particularly fond of Type S and Type X Alpine setups,..though I actually have R's Still sounds very good w/ an Alpine head unit, Alpine 5ch amp, and time correction done on the head unit relative to my seating position. CLEAN.

Error, please rephrase question.

Like many things, there is no such thing as "the best". It all comes down to personal preference. I could show you a set of $1000+ componenets tha tI think are great, but once you listen to them, you might think that $50 coaxials sound better.

Kind of extreme, but get my drift?

Can you guys help me find a good site to help in choosing components? I know what power handling is, but thats about it. How much should I pay attention to sensitivity, etc?? I'm trying to figure out what makes a good speaker.

FYI, Ive been looking at Infinity Kappa, Polk/Momo, and now MB Quart Premium.

How much you pay attention to Sensitivity depends on how much you're willing to pay to power them. You could by a 1000w RMS amp to power your front speakers if they're really low efficiency, or you could by a 200w RMS amp to power them if they're high efficiency.

I prefer to buy high sensitivity stuff because it requires less to power them to high volume levels AND it puts less of a strain on your electrical system.

PoorManQ, once I showed a customer one of my favorite front speaker setups; the classic Boston Pro Series 3 way set. I would A-B them (behind our custom grills with grill cloth as to not see what they were or looked like) with a pair of entry level Alpine 5.25s. I told this guy that one was Boston Acoustics and the other one was Alpine. He was so impressed with the Alpine name and was convinced that they sounded better, even after he saw and understood the difference. I dunno. It stumped me, but honestly... I wish I was happy with $50 speakers like that guy.

AHah, good story. I bet his only reference point was OEM "whizzer" cones. ANd after that, a turd falling in the toilet starts to sound good.

Bbut I know what you mean. Some people love Adire Audio stuff,$$$, whereas I prefer Cerwin Vega which are pretty inexpensive. That way I have a little more money to spend on other things

Eh Adire's subs are pretty reasonably priced, depending on what you're looking for, I've used 1 and 2 sub setups with Shivas before, and slightly over 100 bucks for a 12" sub isn't that bad, especially considering the sound quality I got. Having said that, my friends, who are Adire fan boys and audiophiles, were unimpressed with the Koda compared to CDT CL-61a's, which you can get for $150 shipped from thezeb.
