Best spark plugs for EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello,

I have 43,000 miles on my car and planning to change spark plugs. What is the best spark plugs for this car? Can I go with copper NGK? In addition, what else should I be changing or checking with little over 40,000 miles on the car.

Thank you,

PS. Does anyone know where I can find the white interior light? I saw someone with white instead of usual yellowish interior light.

Not sure I'd spend my money changing plugs.

Especially at 40K miles.

Cars these days don't need them changed at that mileage.

Normally you change the plugs at 60000
Get factory plugs, not factory spec but factory OEM plugs

I went to and got 6 really nice NGK Iridium for my bro's car before and they are factory spec but the car misfired at 2 cylinders,
After I went to dealer and got the factory plugs they works perfectly.

The plugs on the EX's VQ35HR do not need replacement until 105,000. They degrade really slowly and should only ever be replaced with Denso FXE22HR1 high efficiency Iridium plugs.

Steve, has Infiniti switched from NGK plugs to Denso on all new vehicles? Nissans also? When and why?

I actually had ngk typed in ,as it has been that way for almost 20 years.

Here is what I found.

I remember the G37 convertible new model class mentioning a new size spark plug (14mm socket needed)but other than that I remember very little mention from Nissan. It seems that this started in the Fairlady with the 3.7 engine. They started using dual iridium needle tipped Denso plugs with the VQ35hr motor in the 2007 G35 sedan.

Interesting! Thanks for the update. I see they are using a plug with platinum tipped ground instead of a double iridium {center electrode and ground iridium tipped} wonder if there really is any advantage to a true double iridium plug over this single tip style plug?

I bet you there is no gain using double iridium. There are many possibilities, I started thinking about it and I came up with a few.

Differences in metallurgy might improve the spark.
The price vs. output rating would not be efficient.
Iridium supply is too finite to ensure supply and price point.

I just looked at www.sparkplugs.com and they have a good tutorial on sparkplugs along with good prices. seems the original ngk plug used by alot of Infiniti models was a double platinum{ground and center electrode} and even the best ngk plug is a iridium center electrode with platinum tipped ground! either way, even the stock plug in my pld Q were doing great when I changed them with 130K on them!!!!

There seems to be a decent amount of information out there but I am very skeptical when it comes to retrofitting an ignition system. The coils were each designed for a specific plug. Almost all Infinitis would rather run on old NGKs instead of a generic replacement.
