I just put Polks in the front, Rockford Fosgate's in the rear, Rockford Fosgate Tweets in the front with 2 tens in the trunk. Sounds great. I bought the front and back speakers from Cruthfield.

Everybody has their own taste in speakers... I would have to say that Boston Acoustics tend to please everybody, MB Quart do too. I personally like Infinity Kappa Perfect components. I have never heard CDT's but I hear that they are pretty sweet. Polk Audio is a good all around sound as well.

I loved Altec Lansing when they used to do car audio.

I have to say that my older 1990 M30's BOSE sound system is one of the best car BOSE systems I heard. It's better than the one in my 1999 I30 and a 2002 I35 I had for a day as a loaner. The M30's system is very powerful, well detailed mid-range, perfect amount of bass, and you can turn it up all the way to 11 without distorting -- that along with the detailed mid-range are a sign to plenty of serious and robust wattage. It does need a bit more emphasis in the highest of highs, but overall I'd keep the BOSE system in the M30. You may have to spend close to half the cost of the car to get better sound. That's one of the reasons why I opted to fix mine instead of replacing it.

I dunno if the convertible speaker setup is different and as someone else mentioned, choosing what sounds like good speakers are of each person's preference.

i'd go with CDT's from my personal experience... if you can handle installing a set of 3 way components, that's all you'll need, running rears would just take away from the front setup.

thezeb.com has the CL-641's on sale for $250 which is a crazy good deal (http://www.thezeb.com/detail.aspx?ID=1085 ) i got these in my car and they absolutely crank and are full of bass, enough to make my hanging air freshener do some dancing :P for that price i don't think anything can compare, but of course installing 6.5" drivers, 4" midranges and tweets, and 2 crossovers per side can be quite the task, but will definately pay off in the long run...
