4-rotors are f'in awesome, like the one in the Mazda 787B Race car. It's just soo distinct, you could pick it out from like 2 miles away.

Anything fast sounds sweet to me. Since it's this thread, will a bored out 2.6 (originally a 2.4) sound any different? Maybe closer to a 6 cylinder sound?

Does any one have any sound clips? Of any of the cars you all are talking about? I personally dont like the sound of a 5.0 on....whatever exhaust, because it sounds like its making too much noise and goin nowhere.Any other car, I'm fine with.

I would have to say the wickedest sounding engine Ive ever heard in person is a 1400cc Hyabusa flying by at 140mph with his gt40 turbo goin PPPPSSSSSSHHHHTTTTTTTTT, and then he changes gears and his 50mm Tial wastegate makes me cream my pants. oh yeah, 3" straight pipe exits through the right fairing (its about 1 ft long total).

also, any V-Twin bike, be it ducati, harley (<-----my two favorites), honda, suzuki etc. at either idle or WOT sounds amazing.

of course any italian motor, and most big blocks with a nice sized cam rumblin through its 3" exhausts.

My slightly built 454 Vette sounded real sweet.

The 350z has a great sound stock.I do have a video clip of a 350z with tunable exhaust.

i was watching some racing on speed, anyways, the racing ferrari 360 was chasing a racing M3, the M3 sounded so deep and nice, but then the ferrari, wow, it screams like no other, its almost scary, also, i was getting my exhaust done, the camaro SS (early 70's) with whatever exhaust sounded so loud and nice and basically ready to shred something (how bout a honda)

Best sounding engine I'VE heard...A fully built, race-prepped 1.8 liter Alfa Romeo 8 valve DOHC all aluminum 4 cylinder strung out at 8000 RPM. Music to my ears. (I guess I'm being partial because that's the engine my dad has in his Austin Healey Sprite.....) But man, I guess it's the fact that it's a roadster, but when he gets past 5k rpm, the thing just sings--sounds absolutely gorgeous!

I think any race-prepped 4 cylinders wound out at incredibly high rpms sounds awesome. (besides honda engines, of course :pface) I had a video of a Lotus Elise that must have been at 9000 RPM racing against a corvette on a road course--sounds GORGEOUS, especially with straight-cut gears. :)

I like the sounds of formula one v12's as well....

EDIT--found a sound clip of the 1.8 liter I was speaking of (technically a 1.95 liter)

beautiful

you said it brotha. the hemi was one of the best sounding engines ever. and who said it had to be a car engine. im going with a P-51, or maybe the F-4u corsair. any old rolls royce V12 powered war plane.

oh, and the old V12 ferraris, the OLLLDD ones. open exuhast, 12 large cylinders=mean and spootastic. that and any old race car. gotta love the sound of the shelby daytona coupes.

Well I kinda like the way the Subarus sound. Its uniqe. My cousin has a modified Outback and it sounds sweet. He has exaust, intake, header and ported and polished the head as far as he could and he's gettin cams in a couple of weeks. Also he's thinkin about turbo. Man oh man the looks on the faces of the people on the street are priceless. Many people on the street just back away cuz of the sound.

Nothing's wrong, except that comparatively, they sound like sh1t. Everyone's saying "ferrari" or "porsche" or some other race-prepped engine, and then the word "subaru" comes out and it just seems so damn out of place. There's nothing wrong with it, except that there's so many other nicer sounding engines than a subaru.

Oh no. Im not claiming the Subarus to be one of the best sounding engines. I just thought that they sound nice. I would be saying most of the cars the rest of them are saying, but they already said it. There aren't too many more engines that Ive heard that havent already been mentioned.

mellow is an RC51 (VTR1000) Honda at full wrap, coming out of turn 2, darting toward the pseudo-chicane at Pacific Raceway...

Violent would be the sound of a Suzuki Gixer750 with full Yosh pipe, going by me--mid wheelie--in third gear on the freeway(~100mph)

Agree . A Subaru seemed like an unusual choice to me too.The Subes I've heard at the track all sounded like wet farts into an empty coffee can. Not an attractive sound to me.
