so i won a free xbox 360 at the christmas party for my job last year and i havent bought any games other than the ones it came with (gay super hero game and forza which was pretty sick) but i'm more into shooters, i've had the previous halo's which were cool and i'm thinkin about getting the 3rd one but people keep telling me if i buy it buy it just for the story cuz the multi player is not as good and call of duty 4 owns as far as xbox live. i saw that call of duty 5 is out but i'm sick of ww2 games so i'm not really feelin that one but i havent heard anything as far as gameplay, just that kiefer sutherland is in it and i dont care.... also i've heard gears of war is dope also. so basically i got a 60 dollar best buy card from a friend and i'm bout to come up on a game... so what should i get.

I really like COD 5. The flame thrower is the coolest **** ever. I also liked COD 4, but 5 is better IMO. 007 is cool too, but it is essentially COD.

Also, tiger woods golf is awesome for a drinking game with buddies.

And if you want a good single player game, I'll put in a vote for Assassins Creed, I enjoyed playing that game a lot.

Its not a soul shooter but will be well worth the 60 bucks (gift card). You wont be dissapointed.

Those dogs can change the game for a couple minutes. If you get them on your team, just follow one of them around, wait till they attack a dude and hose him. On the other hand, they're annoying bastards when they're coming at you. It doesn't happen too often though.

yeah i've always been a rainbow six fan, actually i had almost all of the tom clancy games for the original xbox. not sure why i didnt think of that one.... oh and left 4 dead is freakIN CRAZY! i tried playing that game once and was like this **** is so fast paced! i would buy it but i felt that single player was kind of weak but its a fun *** multiplayer game. not worth 60 bones though, i'll get it used.

yeah ive seen assasins creed being played but never played it but it looked pretty sick. but for now i'm just looking for a good shooter dont really feel like messing with a strategy type rpg right now. but how does the new prince of persia compare to assasins creed though?

All those games are great and if you pick any of them you cant go wrong.

COD4/5 have teriffic online and campain but you will oviously spend most if not all of your time online...

No one mentioned F.E.A.R. I played the F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin demo today and WOW...I dont get scared easily but they do such a good job of making you sh*t your pants. Great campain...I haven't played online but I have seen some videos of Fear 1's online and I wasn't too impressed...

Check out the demo of F.E.A.R. 2 and if you like it buy F.E.A.R. 1 for like $20 and then move on from there...

I think alot of people are knocking Halo 3 so much is because you have to actually go through a SHIELD to get to the good stuff, instead of just a few rounds in the body. That and lag. You get it and it really sucks balls.

COD4 is cool. I like the fact you can do little accomplishments for the multiplayer and you can hold grenades. I love running up on people while cooking one, then dying with them. Humiliation FTW!

GOW2 IMO is really fun in horde. They've got a few glitches in the game. I didn't survive 50(only got 47), but I got the achievement for it. A few others on here can speak for some of the glitches they got. I SUCK at PvP on that game, so I'm not going to comment on it's other multiplayer games.

Haven't played COD5.

FEAR was a great game. Easily one of my favorite games ever. I didn't realize they ported it to the 360.The demo for FEAR 2 was fun. It's kind of broken, though, so it doesn't give the best idea of the final product. The sound was glitchy and mousebindings are broken. Also, the amazingly useful "lean" feature from the original FEAR appears to have gone on vacation somewhere.

COD4 > COD5

Treyarch messed with the COD4 engine, and while it is a great game to play, COD4 still wins in terms of overal gameplay dynamics.

GOW2 is also an excellent game

What is the "Lean" feature?

Also would it be safe to say that that there isn't any game out there like Fear?I don't play too many FPS but they do a great job with there sound track and random noises here and there and the halusinations are just evil...

I find myself closing my eyes as hard as possible and going to clips of ammo Fear = My first scarey FPS

Yeah, FEAR is pretty unique. It's combination of features and fantastic quality all around makes it fairly peerless. On my list, it takes 2nd place only to the Half Life series in the ranks of shooters.

The "lean" feature allowed your character to lean slightly to either side, which was used for shooting around cover. Combined with the slow-mo system, it helped make combat more interesting. I saw no options for keybinding options for it in the demo, and the keys it used to use by default (E and Q) now have more traditional bindings, leaving the old "use" key (F) to be the flashlight button. It was one of those little touches that helped the game stand apart.

It's disappearance isn't a deal breaker by any means, though. The main reason the game was so unique was it's fantastic use of atmosphere: hallucinations, eeriness, voices, and just plain scary sh#t. And all of those appear to have been improved this time around, so I'm hoping this'll be even better than the original.

I gotta be honest.. I still like Halo 2 the best.. and it's technically not even a xbox360 game.

It was great until all the hackers and cheaters got on board... and then there was the lag... oy!

How hard would it be for a game system to measure the ping or response time for each of the players in the room and then adjust based on that?

the old call of duty's had the lean feature aswell and i was pretty pissed when they took it out for 4 becuase that was probably one of the most convenient features other than cooking grenades. but i may rent fear before i buy it because i do want to start playing online and if the online play isnt that great i dunno if i'll get the 2nd one.

Dude Halo 3 has awesome online multiplayer. I love it. COD 4 is great to and both have awesome campaigns. Rainbow 6 also has a strong following. I though it was to hard but thats me. I would definitly get COD 4 first then Halo 3 for shooters. Halo 3 takes a lot of time to get used to and takes awile before you get good enough to level up. COD 4 however levels you up no matter win or lose and the online is cool and it's not that hard to kill people even for greenhorns. Also make sure you get Need for Speed Pro Street. By far the best NFS ever made and the new one(undercover blows the big one)

COD4 is a way better game than COD5. The problem with all these FPS shooter games that are out there is that once people learn all the glitches the multiplayer becomes crap. And some of the people on COD4 and COD5 have waaaaaaay to much free time to have prestiged like 10 times over.

I've recently gotten back into GRAW and it's not a bad game the second time around. I still haven't beaten GOW 1 but then everytime I get a new game the older games get put on the shelf for a while.

Personally I can't wait for the new Operation Flashpoint game.

I really didn't enjoy FEAR as much as a lot of people did it seems. I played it on the PC. While it had a great atmosphere, killer graphics, and a decent story... I just couldn't stand the monotony of killing the same type of bad guy over and over and over and over again, even if they were quite smart.

The first time those guys that climbed around the walls and ceiling came upon me I was like, AWESOME, something different! Then I killed them and they didn't appear until the final chapter.
