I read that you should go rubber over poly for bushings.

I used Toxic shocks (Stylin Trucks $38 each) for my front which provided me with a smoother ride and made for lowered vehicles. Rear set is Air shocks (Craigslist $30) controlled by an Air Ride compressor (JC Whitney $95) which allows ride and height adjustment on the fly.

iam looking to lower my 1985 nissan 720 king cab st 4inches and not sure what shocks to run. Iam thinking of ford pinto in the front or mybe mustang 2 shocks. Does anyone have an any ideas witch ones would work the best. Iam hoping not to spend a lot that why i was wonting to use the pinto so i just can go to the local parts store.

From what I could find, the difference between rubber and poly is a trade off. Rubber will last longer, yes, but poly will give you a smoother ride. Considering I-5 is about 40 years past it's prime, I'm going with poly. I should have two boxes by tomorrow of various bushings.

I got the bargon basment shocks form Oreilly's and they were $16 each for the front and $25 each for the rear. Drastic improvement from the blown out ones I had.

X2...

Firestone wanted to charge me $50 per shock plus labor for their "base" shock, total cost $300. Went and bought some from Autozone and installed all 4 in an hour.

Down here we have KYB, Koni and monroe. Haven't priced any as yet tho.

Monroe will be cheaper than the KYB's but the KYB's are better. Both brands have their entry level and high end versions.

Was considering using a Koni from a Ford cortina for the front. They're almost identical.
