Think you can name them? This list is by make/model in reverse order as of the beginning of this year:(source 24/7 Wall Street Wire)

10. chevy Impala: (1958 - )14 million, now in it's 10th generation.
9. VW Passat: (1973- ) 15.5 million sold (China sales drive the numbers)
8. Ford Model T (1908-1927) 16.5 million
7. Honda Accord (1976-) 17.5 million
6. Honda Civic (1972- ) 18.5 million VTEC yo!
5. Ford Escort (1968-2000) 20 million more successful in europe than the US
4. VW Beetle (1933-) 23.5 million
3. VW Golf (1974-)
2. Ford F-series Pickup (1948-) 35 million
1. Toyota Corolla (1966-) 37.5 million

Thoughts/comments?

Interesting that Ford and VW account for 6 of the 10 slots. GM only had one spot. multiple branding the same platform was likely a contributing factor.

The two that surprised me on the list were the Passat and Impala. I thought the Mini might have had a chance to crack the top ten.

Very cool. Very suprised at the Model T being top 10. I think the Carolla is worthy of #1 and the F series Fords right behind them.

I was waiting to see the Camry, and also surprised to see the Mustang that for down. Should I ask where the Camaro lands?

When you break it down by sales per year, I think the Model T's sales numbers are most impressive. The Corolla is still tops (or at least #2) when you look at it this way. How many Golfs have been sold? I bet it's close to 800-900 thousand/year like the Model T and Corolla.

I think it has to do with branding. Dodge Caravan + Plymouth Caravan + Chrysler Town and Country sold like crazy. They're often credited as the first minivan, but theyre not...

Yours is someone's list of what are considered the worst cars ever made, not worst selling. And the article is wrong about the 2nd generation Corvair. It was an excellent car.

VW Golf: 25million, and still in production

It boggles my mind how many more Corollas were sold than Civics. I guess it's just the area I grew up in but Civics were everywhere and you very seldom saw a Corolla.

I found it amusing that I have owned 3 of those top 25 models. :)

A Toyota Corolla (1974), Ford Fiesta (1979) and a VW Golf GTI (1983).

The Corolla is the Ford Crown Victoria of the developing world. It's a turd, but it's tough as hell. In Bangkok, where the pavement is awful, they're the #1 choice of taxi drivers for their insane durability and reliability.

I wonder if the Corolla count includes all of the Geo Prizms sold by GM?

No. just corollas. That is also why there are so few GM models on the list. Each division had its own badging of the same platform.

A Toyota Corolla (1974), Ford Fiesta (1979) and a VW Golf GTI (1983).

I owned 3 as well, but one was a dupe

I had a 1975 Rabbit (golf), and two Corollas, (1980 and 2008).

My ex had a silvertop 20-valve Corolla Levin. That thing ate hachirokus for breakfast. She couldn't beat my Silvia, though. That really used to piss her off. :chuckle:
