I donno man- lock your doors and pray.

Basically I think most alarms do nothing. That beeping is just annoying to most people, and you can never tell if it's your car beeping or someone elses late at night from your bed. Unless you get one of those remote alert doohickeys, but even still, what are you gonna do- chase the guy down on your bike?

I dont think there is much you can do to protect your car from actually getting stolen- if someone wants your car badly enough he can take it. The best protection I think is probably to quicken the process of getting your car BACK after it's taken. Maybe the Lo-Jack system?

i've always dreamed of a security system that sends out a shock of 10,000 volts to intruders. it might take a big generator in your trunk, but hell it'd be worth it.

red240. they dp make one. it looks like the club but when u touch it, it shocks you with 100K volts. like a taser. its remotecontrolled with status LCDs, look on ebay. also there is a GPS system that can locate your car anywhere in the US. it has its own web page so you can see where it is, where its pointed and its top speed. It also has relays for the starter, locks, etc so you can stop your car or lock the doors from the web site, (password protected). also has a phone number. Look on ebay-its a little black box

Some one makes something like that, red240, its a taser the legthe of one of those steering wheel clubs. It goes on just like the club does and you have like 10 to disarm it before it starts up and starts fryin people. But I dunno who makes it I saw it on TV once. :)

They have those in Austrailia...but they're not for security systems..they're to prevent carjacking....it's activated by a little button on the floor you press with your foot...

On a side note...I did see an Alarm install that was don't on Horsepower TV. It was actually connected to the starter...you couldn't even hotwire the car w/o disarming the alarm...probably expensive though

hey.. i resent that.... i go to Rutgers.. i park my 240 here.. :xfingers

actually., yeah.. i know what you are saying.. but if anything most of that happens over on the Livingston campus... my boy also got his sh1t jacked., they didnt' take the car because it seemed they didnt' know what they were doing... they made a mess of the wires.. but ended up taking amps, subs and the head unit...

anywho..., RU isn' that bad.. sh1t does happen.. just certain spots are worst then others... we mostly have bad parkers :angryfire

I think my security system is one of the best money can buy, honestly. It's an Alpine, here's some of the features:

- Exterior perimiter detector- Interior vibration detector- Impact sensors on front, back, and side panels of the car- Silent or auditory functions- Locks doors, and rolls up windows when set- Comes with pager (recieves transmissions for up to 1 mile) that not only notifies me of violations, but tells me what the violation is on the car.- Hood and trunk sensors- Anti car jack sensors- Window sensors- Kill switch- Will not start if attempted to be boosted or started 3 times with alarm on. The engine either floods itself or disconnects the fuel line automatically.- Little red light on dash, just to let people know :)

I have never had any troubles with it, and I strogly recommend it for anyone.

Get an alarm with a really loud siren that WILL wake you up at night. Then get a .45. Shoot their knees out until the cops get there. Then you wont have to worry about them hobling back to try and get you car again after they spend 3 hours (if that long) in jail. Sorry, i dont like people who steal cars, and have no sympathy for criminals. There are some things you just dont mess with, one of which is a mans (or woman's) car! On a more serious note, there is no alarm that is undefeatable. But i know some of your top-end cars dont have keyed ignition's, they have little cards you cary around that sends a signal to the computer telling it its ok to start and then you push a button on the dash. thats probably the safest way to go, but good luck with that. Most alarms are simply a deterent, they hope that it will scare away the car thief, rather than prevent him from getting the car. IMO the 100 dollar bestbuy special is just as effective as the 500 super alarm.

Hondas get stolen in Jersey (and specifically Rutgers), not much else, there is no high demand for 240 parts and engines.

The best security measure from getting your actual car stolen...pull out your spark plug wires. My friend's Civic was broken into twice, and neither time it was stolen. Car theives apparently don't carry around spare wire sets.

I had a buddy when I was in the military, everybody called him Mr. Wizard because the guy was always coming up with really strange ideas. Some of them even WORKED! One of the ones that worked came about because his car got broken into 5 or 6 times in a month. Needless to say, the Wiz was angry. So he wento to Radio shack and bought a cheap alarm and a whole buttload of wires and relays and other things that I will never understand. A few days later a box arrived from Crutchfield containing one of those huge capacitors for stereos. Somehow, the crackhead in question wired all this crap up to the body panels of his car, then sat back and waited for his trap to spring. Apparently, it went something like this.1) Would-be thief breaks window.2) Alarm engages, causing many things to occur all at once, not the least of which is that big ol capacitor discharging, causing the metal body of the car to carry an electrical charge.3) Would-be thief, who is touching metal and standing on the ground, completes a circuit and begins to dance...violently.4) would-be thief lays down and goes to sleep to wait for police.5) police come and find Sleepy, then arrest Mr. Wizard for assault!!6) The Ryno laughs hysterically because he told Mr. Wizard this was a bad idea.

Can you say fairy tale? Why would you go through all that trouble, if you wanna catch the thief so bad, park your car in front of your house, have a camera pointing at your car 24/7, let it run and you can move on with your life.

Hey, I can't get you the model until tomorrow. My car is parked for winter at home, and I can't see it over winter. Fortunately, I get to go home for the holidays tomorrow :)I'll post it here when I get home though.

*Edit* It's an Alpine, that much I know for sure.
