Hey all... Im new at this so feel free to correct me in any way. I am looking to buy a 240sx (s13 style) and modify it quite a bit. Im getting tired of the weight of my Mustang and I have quite a bit of respect for imports. What is the best year of the s13's to buy (IE minimal giltches and excepts most parts). My plans are to do a RB25DET motor & transmission swap. Later put the Kouki Tail lights in and put on a INGs rear bumper. Later a nice set of Tein Lowering springs and Flex dampers. A few other little things will be done of course but Im seeking advice from those who know more than I do. Thanks:help

any year s13 will suffice, but a 91-93 will get you off to the best start as the powersteering system will work with the new motor, and the 89-90 will not (but the power steering systems can be swaped with a 91-93 system). My advice is to just hold out till you find a non-rust 5 speed with a clean title, any year will do.

You want to do your suspension, after you put in the motor? Good luck driving that puppy around wiht that motor in it without redoing all of it first. Not to be rude, but its something you cant over look. I like the coupes better, IMHO. And I also hope that you have endless pockets, thats going to cost some money.

There are people who have used stock suspension with RB swaps, its not the greatest thing to do but its not nescessary to upgrade right away. Swaps can be within a reasonable price if you make a budget and stick to it.

Yeah, any year will do. The 91-94 have a nicer looking bumper in my opinion, but thats just aestetics. You may be able to sell the motor from the 91-94 if you want, but probly can't get as much for an 89-90 motor as they are sohc. Thats about it though. Just find a good deal, rust free...maybe with a blown motor already...

I think your right Silsweet... suspension first. As far as my pockets go I have already saved for this project and have a friend who is going to be able to get me a cheap RB motor. Not to mention Im selling my Mustang (351 SVO... 550 RWHP w/o no2 and 700 w/ no2... might put it on EBAY)
