Just curious about this as the only thing i can find is CP but im not sure as they're hp/tq ratings. Im lookin for 500 whp but i want an over built motor. Tomei makes some but only available through they're website and i dont read japanese. Does anyone have any recomendations on good pistons and rods that are rb25 specific and good for 500whp+?

For only 500 hp you don't need forged rods. Actually, I haven't heard of anybody breaking an RB25 rod mostly because the piston rings or ring lands fail first. You can go with GTR rods and save a bunch of money and they are much beefier. I would still go with forged pistons for this hp.

However, if you must have forged rods, anything is good for 500 hp. No need for tomei, pauter, or carillo because they will run about $1200 a set. As long as it is built to spec, it should last a long time with good tuning.

you need tomei rods oh i happen to be selling a set of them.

if you want 500+ whp i'd get oem gtr rods at least. theres a decent difference in how they look compared to the 25 rods.

hahaha I figured you'd chime in on this one

I think I have an extra set of OEM GTR rods stored away somewhere. Let me know if you're interested.

Hmm. I always thought u needed the full rb26 stroker for the gtr rods which i dont wanna do. I figured all the rbs have the same bore but not the same stroke. And i kinda wanted to over do the block a lil. ie take 600hp and not even hesitate. Ive seen quite a few gtrs pushin 600 but i wasnt really trying to push the limits of stock rods or even close.

Also question for u darius. With a built rb25 wut kinda power is ur bottom end good for?

The additional volume on the RB26 comes from the stroke on the crank. The rods have the exact same dimensions from RB25 to RB26, but are very different in size/beef. I would say at this point my weakness is my GTR rods, but they are safely good for 600-800 hp. I think a lot of what people say about the limit of the RB25 is based around the piston rings and lands that are limited to abuse at 500-550hp. The rods aren't what is failing unless you are running 24 psi of boost without a tune. Then, obviously $hit will hit the fan.

For me to get 800 hp, I would have to run about 30-35 psi with a methanol injection setup or race gas. So, that is a ways down the road.

Never seen a std rod rail from load, but have seen many engine failures from broken std bolts... NEVER reuse botom end bolts.
