i have an 04 g35 coupe, and the (stock) wheels have a whiteish haze almost oxidation look to them towards the center of the rim. what would be the best product to clean and polish them up? i have tried washing them and using wheel cleaner but that didnt really help.

Do you have pictures of the wheels? I know it isn't any fun to take pics of your car when it ISN'T looking good, but then maybe somebody would have an opinion on a product that would be helpful to your situation.

autogeek.com is a great resource for ideas on how to clean up problems on your car's finish or wheels/tires, or anything else on your car.

Have you tried a cleaner-wax to see if that works? Since we are talking the wheels here you could probably use some rubbing compound and elbow grease.

If it's just oxidization of the paint then you don't want to use anything harsh that will go through the paint, you just want to treat the outer layer.

I used a clay bar first to remove the oxidation and build up of brake dust. Then took a Mother's Power Ball and compounded lightly with McGuire’s # 2, then polished with McGuire’s # 9. Finished off with Klasse All-in-One Acrylic sealer. Took a couple hours, but they looked awesome when I was done. Stayed that way for almost a year too. Just need a light polish now.

On word of caution when using the Powerball: be careful near the sharp outside corners. It will burn the clear-coat and paint right off if you leave it there for more than a second or two.
