Well the AS should be (same design as my Tanabe front) a 1" round bar with threaded ends. The threads are good for preloading as you can maximize the length of the bar, taking up the space between the strut towers as the move apart when the car is jacked up.
The OS, what I have, is a beefy 1.25" or more by 1/2" flat type bar. It is a more rigid bar, but doenst have the adjustable ends like the AS. But the way it sits, when the car is jacked up for preloading the braces can pivit out, basically doing the same thing with out turning bolts and such.
But on our cars the rear strut towers dont really flex out when jacked up due to things like the gastank and the rear deck lid.
Basically the 30$ is because it isnt the run of the mill, norm bar like the AS is. How many Companies sell the same exact bar like the AS? Alot, right? Now the OSis a different design, stiffer, takes more metal to produce (more metal costs more money) and just looks sick when the seat is down with a nice beefy flat bar going across hehe
