psp- i can play my games on the beautiful widescreen display, then when i get bored of that i can watch a movie i have on my memory stick . then i can turn up the tunes and go mountain biking. i also love the XMB (cross media bar) its cool looking and user friendly. also has an available camera. and there are some sweet hacks out there for it. like i have universal remote application on it where i can basically control any ir controlled device. like my tv and other tvs and stuff. i also have a gameboy emulator and an n64 emulator. the n64 emulator is a very early version so its not that great yet. ummmmmmm.... internet browser it sweet, it has portable TV, given you have a location free player. and............. i can put my photos on it as well and........i like the MP3 visualizations those are pretty sweet. ummmm, great games. UMD movies are also available other than sticking movies onur memory stick.... and i can remote play my ps3 which is sweet cuz then i basically have an unlimited supply of music accesible on my psp when im in remote play mode, and now you can remote play ur ps3 from anywhere in the world over the internet. and when you have a psp, people are just like "yo, is that a psp?!?!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbfZHUbFRno ) the thing i hate is that those ppl become moochers........

BUT yea PSP i love it.

Games. Movies. Music. Pictures. Internet. PSP

DS rocks.

PSP rocked until Sony patched the firmware to death.

I play my DS regularly. Even with portable GTA (which is nearly the pinnacle of awesome) I haven't touched my PSP in months.

we have something called custom firmware now. its all the goodness of the latest firmware, with the homebrew capatablity of 1.50. its now some weird firmware either, its the regular XMB sony firmware, you can just use homebrom on it. i have 3.51 custom firmware. you still downgrade ur psp if its 3.50 or under! go to psp-hacks.com

Sounds like you have to hack your PSP for it to not suck.

i prefer the DS but for me it has nothing to do with firmware or roms or hacking, its just that the games try too hard to be console games and don't quite live up to the standard. Ex: ace combat X, im a diehard AC fan but the psp version while a good game just dosn't feel right. On the other hand games that were built with a handheld in mind (locoroco, Lumines) are amazing and are what keep me from selling it.

not that you have to hack it for it not to suck. you just open another world of use for the PSP when you hack it. its still amazing without the hacks

I broke that badboy out last week to play Evander Holyfield boxing.

I vote DS though, great system for me, plus most of the games can be played 10 minutes or so at a time. I'm still waiting for a Palm style desktop/calander program for it.

My PSP really helps to relieve the boredom. That's what I use it for most of the time.

I still have yet to try out a DS though.

I like touching stuff thats why I like the DS. I did rock the Game Gear back in the days w/ a huge rechargable battery pack with a screen magnifier

I miss mine to this day...

I was the only person I knew with one, along with a Genisis. Everyone else went the Nintendo route.

One day in like the 3rd grade I let one of my schoolyard friends borrow it for a weekend. The kid moved like the next day. I was so sad. '

In all seriousness, out of the current two major choices I have to take the DS. I had a PSP for a couple months. I just didn't like that it was trying to be a bajillion things at once and not really doing any one thing very well. On a console or something that stays hooked up to a TV I can forgive that, but on a portable? No.

DS is just more fun.

Ha, I ALWAYS had to have my Game Gear getting power from the wall adapter. That thing sucked down 6 AA's like they were nothing.

I had the magnifier too. Long after I lost my Game Gear I used the magnifier to burn up ants and leaves. Fun times.

exactly...we don't always have to agree. That's why there is variety and thanks to people with different tastes we have them.

Gameboy however will always be the most succesul. The DS however is doing very spectacular, in sales its outselling every other console period, even the PS3 and Xbox360 combined.

iv never used a psp but id say the ds plainly because the games are oldschool in a way, made like the oldschool ways, mostly side views, simple play, simple buttons to use with a little extra flavor of the stylus (which is a blessing and a curse)

I play both DS and PSP regularly.

I've been playing MGS: Portable Ops pretty frequently on PSP recently.

On DS, I've recently gotten back into Cooking Mama, and I'm still finishing Pokemon.

I play a lot of GBA titles on my DS also, right now I'm in the middle of FF2 on Dawn of Souls.
