Forgive me if this not the right place to post this question. I am a long time J30 fan and have owned a couple of them. Right now I have a 97 j30t that only has 47K original miles and sadly I have to sell it for financial reasons. Can anyone suggest a venue where I can find folks who would really appreciate the car. My local CL list just seems to have people looking to pay bottom dollar and the j30's there all have high mileage. I would really like to pass this along to someone who would appreciate the car, and for obvious reasons I want to get a good price. Which raises another question: what do folks think is a fair price for a j30t with such low miles. Interior is pretty close to perfect, and the body is very clean minus a few minor city abrasions here and there, but it cleans up real nice, and the paint is strong, and as far as I know everything is working just great..

Again my apologies if this is not an appropriate place for these questions, but I feel like I have this rare and beautiful thing and not sure how to find it a good home.

thanks

E,
I haven't posted it for sale, but I was going to list it for $6150 or best offer, but I"m kind of shooting in the dark here. I've been looking for j30's to compare it to but can't find anything close. I found one j30 (95 not a t) with only 39K, but they were asking for 14,000, which would be great if they could get it, but I don't think that is happening so fast. So I'm playing it by ear. My hope in posting here was to get some feedback, more than to find buyers. If that happens great, but I'm still trying to get my bearings. later ab

Start a thread in the Infiniti Cars for Sale forum here on NICO. Load it up with pictures, not a link. We have a couple of NICO members from the Bay Area who may think it's a bargain. There's no other clubs that I know of so NICO and CL are your options.

For comparison, probably apples vs. oranges, but...... I bought my 8th Q45 at the end of May for $3000 (the other 7 are gone). A 94 base in mint condition just like yours, NV/CA car, garaged, 49k miles, full service records. KBB was about $3700. It's a great car but I wouldn't have paid much more than high blue book knowing what the future repair costs are going to be. Just sayin...

Good luck with the sale.

That guy asking $14,000 is just wishful thinking, don't use that as a basis for valuing your car, no way anyone would ever pay that much. Trouble is you have to compete with all the J30s of the same model year that are selling in the $1500 to $3000 range, and asking price is just that. Even if a car had zero miles on it there are things that deteriorate just from age, particularly anything made out of rubber, especially if the car wasn't garaged the whole time, and leather and plastic. Also, parts to fix the car keep getting harder and harder to find, even used parts as old cars are crushed for scrap. I just bought a lot manufacturers and wholesalers closeout parts at deep discounts from Rock Auto for my three old vehicles. Lots of them I got the last one they had, if anyone else needs that part forget it, go to a dealer and pay a ridiculous high price as they are no longer making aftermarket parts for these 17 to 22 year old vehicles, especially low production volume cars like Infinitis.

BTW, if anyone needs rear brake pads for their J30, Rock Auto has three sets left as a wholesaler closeout of Raybestos advanced technology ceramic pads, their top of the line, for $21.79, with a $15 rebate that makes them $6.79. Rock Autos regular price is $40.73, and most other sellers want over $50 for these rear disk brake pads.

Victor,
Thanks for the input. I've placed an ad but I'm going to be realistic and see what the market brings. I've included or BO. So if the best offer I get is 4K or less then so be it, but I'm thinking I might get 5K or above. It's going to be what its going to be, but 1997 is not 1947, and most of the mechanical engine parts can be found on other models using the same engine. My attitude is hope for the best and be prepared for everything else.

thanks,
AB
