Castrol dead dino or Syntec synthetic or Mobil 1, get the viscocity reccomended for your car and any brand name filter, Puralator, Fram etc, Biggest you can fit.

depends do u wanna spring only for a regular mineral oil? Then Castrol GTX in 10w-40 (not 30) will be a good choice.

Are u willing to spring the extra dollar for a blend? Then Valvoline Durablend in 10w-40 it is (best of the blends)

Do you want a synthetic?then any one of these:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....229.1

Except Syntec, I hate to disagree with TMS, but Syntec has a pretty POOR track record. And oil anlayses done on used oil in Nissan engines, show pretty poor performance by the SYntecs regardless of grade (exception is the new german made 0w-30 , which is green not yellow, full PAO oil, avalaible mostly in Canada+Europe)

Also I strongly recommend use of OEM filters, they outperform many of even the bettter aftermarkets.

green oil! reminds me of two stroke oil I used to dump in my bike. I have used Mobil 1 in every one of my cars and I love it, not refuting the surveys you note but the engine i yanked out of my Silvia was in fantastic condition, cyliders still had crosshatching and no sludge. At any rate i think we can agree that when it comes to liquid Dinosaur Castrol is the shizzy:alcoholic

Actually I wass disagreeing on the M!.

I think the new formula "SyperSyn" is actrually an improvement of the drop the oil took when "trisyn" got introduced. Also the SpuerSYn formulation includes "moly" to make up for the lack of ZDDP an anti wear additive wose levels are much reduced for oils wanting to meet SJ + SL.Other oils have not subsituted for the ZDDP in their anti wear package yet, or ignore API specs by making their oil strong w/o trying to meet it (AMSOIL)Interestingly o one of the most impressive off teh shelf oils is MOBIL1 0w-40 which meets even 229.5, <and > BMW longlife. No small feat meets a lot of the real tough OEM specs that only few oils meet. Some claim AMSOIL and redline are better. but M1 I can get off teh shelf when ever I feel like it.

I only use two oils, Mobil 1 synthetic or Castrol GTX, I never liked Syntec, the viscocities were weird and the engine didn't feel right with it.

I've always had good luck with Castrol GTX and OE filters. IMO, as long as you don't stretch out your oil change interval, the GTX should be fine.

As a side note, the OE filter, drain plug and crush washer are so cheap you can easily change everything at each oil change interval. It's probably silly to change the drain plug, but the thing costs less than $2 IIRC. At the very least I would get a new washer and Nissan filter. Changing a < $1 washer is a good way to be sure your plug won't leak.

Careful about going with a synthetic on a higher mileage motor. They tend to have strong detergents that clean out gunk that has been building up at the seals. Switching has been known to cause some leaks at various seals.
