Just went in for the regular oil change and of course I only use synthetic but they put 5w-30 in the car. The last time I started her up there was a ticking sound from the lifters I assume. A friend said that he only puts 10w-30 in his forced induction car. Should I only use 10w year round. Your imput would greatly be apriciated. thanks

10W-30 is the recommended oil weight for Z's. The service manual actually says to not use 5W-30 unless you are under extremely cold conditions.

You only need 5W-30 for temps below -5 degrees F, and most of the US will never reach that cold except for a couple days (if that).

Ill give u a head start

The factory service manual recommends "Type Dexron", but just "power steering fluid" from the auto parts store should be fine, its all hydraulic fluid.

Automatic transmission fluid is what you want to use for your power steering

ATF and power steering fluid are very similar. Z32's commonly leak from the power steering components. When you use ATF you don't seem to get the leaks. That's what I've used for years and what we use in the Z32's at the dealership when we service the components.

negatory, the parts store power steering fluid is much thinner and more prone to leaking, thats why nissan uses atf, thats what the system is designed for, you run regular power steering fluid and your leaks will get worse! the parts store also sells atf which is whats required

That's what I thought. The idiot put 5w-30 synthetic in my car after I had asked for 10w-30 and now my lifters are ticking a little bit. It's making me nervous. They are going to fix it or there will be hell to pay. thanks freakonaleash

I'd run 10w30 Mobil 1 in it. Thats what I run in my Conquest.
