Was looking through some forums a while back, and I saw some stuff about synthetic oil causing leaks. I just bought my Z, and I forgot to ask the guy what kind of oil he used. I usually use Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and K&N filter. After reading the posts, I got scared. The car has 127k miles on it, and if I switch to synthetic right now (assuming it's always been conventional), will it leak? Also, what filters do you guys recommend? I saw a post, "All mine sees is Mobil 1 and 60U Nissan filters" and I can't find that nissan filter anywhere. A link would be great, since everyone apparently uses the Nissan filter instead of K&N. Thanks in advance.

I buy my Nissan filters from Courtesy Nissan be sure to get the copper "washers" that go on the oil drain plug and change it with every oil change. My Z has used Valvoline 10w ,30 for the last 20 years

Any oil that meets The required SAE specs called for by Nissan will suffice. Synthetic does not cause leaks.

My latest fill in my ride is Pennzoil Platinum "synthetic." It's working fine. Mobil 1 will be fine, as will Redline, Amsoil, or even Motorcraft or SuperTech dino oil if you plan on changing it every 3k.

I myself try to always use OEM filters with the copper crush washer, but in a pinch and for one service period only I have used the Bosch filter and old crush washer with no problem in my TT but my old NA would only register correct oil pressure with an OEM filter, and no other.
Just don't use cheap oil and be SURE to get correct viscosity, synthetic is good, and change every 3K (hard working/hot running motor) for best results.
