The 510 is the great great grandfather of what we now know as Altima. The Versa is the young punk great-grandson of old man B210. The Sentra? the odd duck of the family (Versa's father, all grown up; the grandson of the B210). The Maxima was once known as 810. There was even a 710 and I believe a 610 at one point.
Trucks were known as the 620, 720, and (in mid 1986) D21.
There were others.
The only Nissan product to use the same naming scheme since the 1960s is the Z series.
So in concluson; the Versa is no 510. That honor goes to the Altima.
