I'm swapping an RB20DET into my 1990 240SX. I was wondering if you could tell me which would be easier. Use the crossmember out of the frontclip R32 or get custom mounts? Someone said in another post that if you go the R32 crossmember way then the engine will sit to high and the hood won't close. Any input is appreciated, thanks.

According to my good buddy, and RB20 God, Carl H....get the A31 crossmember and it will solve the problems with hood clearance, sway bar clearance, etc....or get the Top Hat or McKinney RB20 mount kit.

McKinney is the best.

Stock crossmember + mounts is the cheapest. If you use the stock stuff you will need to cut the hood in a few places to get it to close (but it will close) and your shifter will sit about 1" forward from its normal position.

Our new RB20 mount are ready for sale, we have added more adjustability foward and back for the RB20 to position the motor and get clarance on the swaybar, steering and shifter (can be centered if you want).....

If you use the crossmember, what Murray said is true, but its really no big deal.

Save yourself some money and use the crossmember. Or if you didn't get a clip buy the mounts.

what he said ^

IMO it's no point in buy mounts/adapters when you already have the cross-member. as mentioned before, the $ can be spent on other things. i don't see trimming some hood fins would be a big of a deal. if you purchased a motor set is a different story.

Macks mounts are easy to install and you can move the motor back more if you want too. Wish I had them before I droped the motor in I could have had it way back on the firewall.

if u get a clip just stick with the stock member and mounts it will work fine and save some money for a front mount or so

my hood closes fine with 5 minute worth of trimming with the dremel

and motor does not sit so far forward

as for the shifter with stock mounts here u go u judge for ur self
