i posted this over on club s12 and i figured i would ask here..

for the money, what would be the best swap for a s12?

sr20det

ca18det

ka-t

ls1

my budget will be about $6k for the swap and the car will be used for drifting and the occasion drag strip visit. it will also be driven on the street. its not my daily driver, i have my 02 lexus is300 for that...

thanks in advance for any input you guys have

put an LS in it.

I've yet to see one done.

gonna need to swap out the rearend on it for an R200 though...unless it has one.

id love to do an ls1 swap but the price of a low mileage ls1 is pricey...it looks like a straight forward swap but im thinking all in all it will cost more than $6k

VG30ET.

VG came stock in the S12 which means all the hardware you need is already available.

IF it was a VG car....

his isn't though.

it's gonna be a lot of work for any swap....I'd aim a little higher than a VG30ET...not that it's a bad motor...but if you're going through the trouble...find something with a better aftermarket.

seems like sr20det would be the simplest but for drifting how bout that kat nice low end and torque for drag too. the motors are dirt cheap

yeah...they're cheap...if it's stock.

an SR or CA18DET would be the cheapest bang for the buck if you're not looking for a ton of power.
