Yea, they had a deal for 5 quarts of mobil 1 synthetic and a mobil 1 filter for $30, but they were out of the 5w-30 so I got the max life sytnthetic blend.

Hey guys, let me ask you something. I have heard the putting Mobil 1/ Synthetics in a vehicle with some miles on it, especially over 20000 or so can be a bad thing and that to do so at 60-70-80k not a good idea as can loosen/soften seals and the like and result in leaks and consumption through using or burning oil. In other words; need to use Mobil 1 from the start and you are good to go but at any kind of real miles not a good idea usually.

Any experience with starting to use at 70+?

Thanks.

Yea, that's a bit of an old wives tale.I switched to Mobil 1 when I bought my Pathfinder. It had 43,000 Kms on it at the time. No leaks, no problems since. What is more important is that once you switch over, stay with synthetic. It's not a good idea to switch back and forth between dino oil and synthetic, like some people do.Stay with one or the other.

I run Eneos, a Japanese synthetic oil higher grade than mobil 1 (mobil 1 is fine but the price on Eneos is good for me) and a OEM filter even though once I run out of my made in japan oem filters (new ones are made in China for the vq35) I'm switching to something else.

I've switched from regular to synthetic in like 5 cars at higher mileage and have never had a problem.
