Whats the best LSD for drifting? Vlsd's, Phantom Grips, .5 ways 2 ways?

if you want one cheap, you could probably use one from either a 300zx or infiniti J30 from a junkyard, I think those are supposed to fit the 240

Once it gets warmed up a viscous one from a stock 240 should work pretty well, but you have to warm up the fluid first, so... I wonder what kind my Sentra has? I guess a viscous, cause its factory...edit: I've passed 1000 posts without even knowing it, woo!

When viscous get worn out they suck!

A lot of Clutch LSDs are made by the same company. You might want to check that out and find the company selling the cheapeast one.

Viscous are cheap, and, for drifting, ease of replacement is key.

Clutch types just require new clutch packs. They also have more agressive lock-up for drifting.

I'd get a Cusco 2-Way Type-RS LSD

Cusco makes them for the R200 and the R205 rear ends.

i will be damned like that little girl from the shining. Another question, will the s15 Helical LSD fit on my s13 (i dont see a reason why not) and would this be a good choice or compromise between track driving and drifting?

^^^ I was just gonna ask that ques... :) Seems like it would. Plus the Helical would be much more efficient than the viscous. Btw, is the S15 1way, 1.5 or 2way?

Well...you get what you pay for if you want the absolute best. Or get a factory r200v. They can be found for around $350. That's what I got mine for or go buy your lottery ticket ;)

Viscous differentials are not made for drifting... you need a good clutch type differential.

Where does it specifically say that? Perhaps they are not the best diffs for drifting but there are people who use them for drifting. In light of what you said I am getting a clutch type diff installed into my stock open diff. because clutch types are better for drifting than VLSDs

If you have a lot of money to spend, 2 of the best for drifting are Tomei Technical Trax and Nismo SSS. Many of the drifters that drive in D1 use these differentials. I am not sure about the Tomei LSD, but I know that the Nismo is adjustable between 1.5 and 2 way.

The only thing I found off of google(in english) says that the Nismo sss is sold as a 1.5 or in a 2 way. Also it was 1160 dollars. This was a quick search though. http://www.autoimaging.com/sho...=144&

I got this off zilvia from Dousan. Its not like you just press a button but it is adjustable between 1.5 and 2 way. However if i remember correctly, all that is needed to change the breakaway torque setting is removal of the LSD and a socket wrench to adjust the torque setting.

These are pictures of the difference between the pressure rings. I am not sure though, whether you get both pressure rings with the Nismo SSS. Also both of the kits i mentioned are expensive.

I think you just contradicted yourself... plus he asked for the best drifting differential.

I think you forgot to read the post I replied to. He said that VLSDs aren't for drifting and I asked where does it specifically say that? I do agree that Clutch ty LSDs are better for drifting b/c it takes time for the viscous fluid to heat up :)

Sounds like a nice differential, it just confused me that they would sell both 1.5 and 2 way if they can be adjusted.
