My buddy got a KA24DE, he will turbo charge it this summer. Forged internals and the regular parts on the outside.Power goal is around 400 whp for daily driving.I know, some people run 400 on stock internals but this is a high milage engine and he will do some drifting/track as well.

Is there any bolt on solutions out there? Like ECU chip´s or piggy back´s for the KA?He want something easy to install and max $1000.

Any US companies selling this? I guess you follow a certain list of parts to make it work fine?

Thanks a lot guys! Sounds like Enthalpy is my best option, I guess they know what they are doing.

Many KA-T boys using Enthalpy? Up to 400whp?

Need something faster to install, I will help him build the engine but wont waste hours to bulid or install a stand alone. Not in this car.

But I´m with you on the performance and quality part.

yeah Then something like JWT or ENTHALPY, is a good route, I just don't really know what the response time is now days on those cause I know they can get very busy.

But you should look into rom tuning. I know I love it even though it's still not fully decoded it's progressing really well.

bikirom/megasquirt - if you are into fuel tuning your self.

jwt/enthaply- if your lazy and want some one else to tune but they are very affective, also good if you dont plan on changing your setup much

rom tune- diy person that is cheap and wants to modify on the stock ecu. good for basic tuning,

safc +btm+ knock lite - old school ftw! control fuel and timing cheap, in the end its not that effective .

greddy emanage ultimate <3- best bang for your buck imo, you can control alot almost everything a standalone can do but with out paying the price. but its still a piggy back

aem ems- one of the best standalone , not that easy to tune and can be costly but you will extract the most form it.

+1 for enthalpy, I like it a lot

+2 for CalumSult with on the fly tuning.

I'll be selling my Enthalpy and going with a Calum this summer because I'd like to mess with the tune a little more.

I don't mean to thread jack, but I've been trying to read a lot about turbo'ing the KAT...

What about if you ran a JWT/Enthalpy tune and used a SAFC like the Apexi units or something to fine tune the ECU? Would that work well for both being lazy about tuning yourself, but allow you to squeeze a little more out of it?

That's what many people do. They buy the Enthalpy/JWT and then fine tune it with the SAFC. I know that Cory (nissanfanatic) currently has the Enthalpy ECU and fine tuned it with the SAFC. He's produced some excellent numbers this way.

Good to know, thanks. I'm pretty sure I'm going to do an Enthalpy to make sure it'll start up and then fine tune it with a SAFC.

If I can´t find a good ECU upgrade I will go http://www.civinco.com/eng_index.html.They are local, got good stuff and easy to change settings = Tune card with one program on each card.

Civinco is a Viper tuner from start, they make tuned ECU´s for a US company that Supercharge Vipers.http://www.roeracing.com/Produ...ct=81They started making stand alone´s and piggy back´s a few years ago and they are awsome. The only special thing in my eyes is their "tune card" thing, you can save different programs on smart cards and just switch in a sec without computer.Perfect for guys running regular and race fuel from day to day.

There are a few Civinco retailers in USA and the guys at the HQ know their English if you want to e-mail them questions.

I didn't know you were in SD... What are you studying at UCSD? I'm at SDSU myself, but no summer classes this time.

I'll definitely post up if/when I go with the CalumSult ECU.

If you have someone local, then definitely check them out. The engine does not care what controls it, as long as it gets the right amount of fuel, on time, and spark, on time. Other than that, you could control it with a PS2 controller for all it cares.

If I were to want somthing easy and reliable, Enthalpy is the way I'd go Mike.
