Hey another Versa owner in Pasadena CA!!! Where abouts do you stay if you don't mind my asking? I stay in South Pas specifically, just off of the 110 on Fair Oaks. Anywho staying on task, that I can actually think of, no there is not one that can fit inside the storage compartment. There are many GPS systems out there, but it all depends on what you want, do you want one that is removable and that you could possibly take with you on say a hike in the foothills?? The Alpine Blackbird is a really nice GPS system, a lot of features, and you could pick one up at the cheapest for around $500.

You mean the storage area for your glasses? It seems a little small for that, even if you bought one of the flat ones out there, you'd still need to fit the windshield/dashboard harness, the unit, and wires.

I like Garmin products, they've been around for a while and know what they're doing. I recently picked up the Garmin StreetPilot c330 for about $350CDN. It's really simple and has a clean interface.

I have the Garmin Nuvi 350 in my Versa. It detached easily from it mount and will fit into the sunglass storage area, but the door will not close.

I have a Garmin c340 I picked up for $350 USD. It was one of those black Friday deals. It's nice and not too large. Half the time I don't have to look at the screen because the lady's giving me turn by turn directions with street names and all. I agree with Prospekt, you're going to have to fit an awful lot into that small space to get a permanent solution. If your into fabricating, you could buy one of the flat GPS devices, place tracks on the side so it can slide in and out of the pocket. You could drill a hole into the bottom of the pocket to get access to the extra space in the radio bay.

That's strange carl...i also have the nuvi 350 and I can close the sunglasses compartment with plenty of room. THey must have deepened the storage space in a 2008 versa

See what is in your sunglass storage area (I'm talking about the storage area above the radio?). I have the 350 (I leave the mount on the dash) and it slides in so far that I have to reach for it to pull it out!

I thought the sunglass storage was above your head.

I just use my Palm Tungsten with a GPS adapter. Works great. Just need to find a way to mount the thing now.

When you guys are talking about sunglasses storage spot I'm guessing your talking about the little area above the CD player. I use that to put my cd's in I don't wear any type of glasses never have and will probably need them in the near future.

I was referring to the sunglasses compartment above the mirror, but there wasn't enough room. The CD compartment might just work nicely. If you can take a picture, might help me to visualise it.

Go with Garmin - better routing engine and more consistently better maps in North America.

The Garmin and Tomtom units are the best rated in Consumer Reports, and having used a Tomtom unit I can say they are pretty sweet, and should fit in the storage area above the radio.

EDIT: Also, Clipsed, do you really need a 1.7MB animated GIF for a signature???

It would appear from the answers that you can do about anything you want to do that suits your needs. I bought a Lowrance i250 mainly because the dealer, BassPro, was the only one that actually knew what they were doing. Or, as far as I could tell. They even updated it for me later. I really don't mount mine and it's portable between vehicles. Really doesn't seem to be mounted on the windshield or dash to hit the birds.

Cost about $200 when I expected to pay $400 plus. Fits in my pocket if I have to.

This one is based on Navtec, as are many of the others. I think Tom Tom, or somebody, recently bought the system they'd been using.
