Best Gear Oil for J30 Diff...... Opinions

Trying to see if I can get some opinions before just buying "some new stuff".

If your talking about what you put in your pumpkin just use generic gear oil. It makes no difference because, the viscous fluid is separated from what's in your diff casing.

yeah I was wanting put new fluid in the whole thing.... haven't really looked into it too much, the j30 diff was on the car when I got it. just got the motor swap working finally and was wanting to make sure the rear end was healthy. fluids in the diffrential is deffinetely not my specialty

Clean it out real well (I use brake cleaner or gasoline). Drain and dry.

I prefer Mobil 1 80w90 for a Nissan VLSD.

... and the reason would be to ensure removal of the old broken-down viscosity fluid as well as metal micro-debris. I use Redline 75W90 Gear Oil, which is GL-5 compatible.

Thats what I was thinking. Redline Shockproof but I just thought I should get Ideas from a few who have dogged the r200.

I use lucas 80w-90 in mine...
