I'm writing an article and I need your input.

Question 1 - Which car in your fleet gets the best gas mileage? Past or present, doesn't matter.

Question 2 - Was it fuel-injected or carbureted?

Question 3 - How many cylinders?

Question 4 - Type of transmission and how many gears?

Question 5 - Average Mileage

Thanks!

I think mid 40's?

However, if you're only talking cars, the '03 S2000 (which I sold) and '00 Altima got the same MPG per tank.
Both fuel injected.
One is a 6spd manual, the other 5spd auto (I think it's 5spd)
4 cyl
23mpg

it only gets good gas mileage because I drive it slow on the highway. I would never buy another again, it's way too cheaply built .

Very simple, light, nimble car that I bought used in 1982, and traded in 1989. no power accessories, no air bags, no ABS, the only options were a nice radio and a flip up sun roof. Extremely reliable and fuel efficient.

Yes, this gets great mileage. It blows cold AC and roomy for a compact. I agree that it was too cheaply built. The cup holders were in a bad spot and the stereo was a joke.

I rented a 2011 sedan this past weekend. Truth be told, I'd take it again. Saved me a bunch on gas.

Question 1 - Which car in your fleet gets the best gas mileage? Past or present, doesn't matter.
1995 Ford Ranger XL 2.3 liter, 2wd, regular cab, shortbed (no A/C, not that I ever actually use A/C).

Question 2 - Was it fuel-injected or carbureted?
EFI with 2 spark plugs per cylinder.

Question 3 - How many cylinders?
Four.

Question 4 - Type of transmission and how many gears?
5 speed manual with overdrive.

Question 5 - Average Mileage
23-28 mpg depending on city/highway mix.

Still not a whole lot better than the my V8 LS or V6 Maxima. 5mpg is the difference on both ends of the spectrum. Not enough to make fuel economy a purchasing decision. But I didn't buy the Ranger for that reason anyway, and that four-cylinder is one of the best ever made. Tons of torque all the time, sounds great, will outlive the roaches.

  • Question 1 - Which car in your fleet gets the best gas mileage? Past or present, doesn't matter.
  • 1997 Toyota Corolla DX

Question 2 - Was it fuel-injected or carbureted?
  • Fuel-injected.

Question 3 - How many cylinders?
  • Inline 4

Question 4 - Type of transmission and how many gears?
  • Four-speed automatic

    Question 5 - Average Mileage
  • I applied a heavy foot (though allowed myself a lot of coasting) while on back-roads and in the city, and still averaged around 27mpg then. On the highway, I habitually used the cruise control and treated speed limit signs as a suggestion - never strayed too far over. I'd say it's about 35-38mpg... 36.5 to split the difference. I remember one tank that was almost completely highway was about 40mpg.
It's why I almost bought a Yaris instead of my A/C.

Wow. I actually started to look at scooters today because of their gas mileage, but apparently this will beat their real world numbers.

Thats riding easy obviously.I've gotten that but that was riding pretty easy.If i ride semi hard like i do i get about 85 or so.I couldn't believe it the first time i crunched the numbers.Last time i bought gas it was 8 bucks for 91 to fill the tank and i got almost 205 to the tank before i was seriously worried about needing to pull over and get gas.

If your looking at a 250 obviously a ninja will be faster and get good gas mileage as well. But then you loose that sweet sound of a v-twin and with straight pipes my 250 is louder than my buddy's screamin eagle pipes.

Here is my 250 with a custom exhaust
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RA_gUZyFQRY

or you can do what most other people do and thats drag pipes(which sound decent but my bike is deafing loud and doesnt ever get high pitched)

just curious, the thread was asking for the most fuel efficient vehicle you've ever owned. You list having a Z32. Are you saying your 3 ton pickup truck gets better gas mileage than a Z32?

Question 1 - Which car in your fleet gets the best gas mileage? Past or present, doesn't matter.

1983 Dodge 600ES

Question 2 - Was it fuel-injected or carbureted?

Carbureted

Question 3 - How many cylinders?

4 (although I still believe it was two hampsters on wheels belted to the crank)

Question 4 - Type of transmission and how many gears?

3-speed automatic

Question 5 - Average Mileage

36

(unless you were driving uphill, into the wind, or more than 55mph, in which case it got probably 15 as it had to rev to 4500 rpm just to keep the cruise control engaged)

2007 Chevrolet Aveo LS Sedan(Wife's previous car)

Fuel-injected

Question 3 - How many cylinders?

1.6L 4cyl

Question 4 - Type of transmission and how many gears?

Question 5 - Average Mileage

30mpg

I hated that little car on trips, I think it got worse fuel mileage on the interstate. It's rated for 34mpg hwy, but I usually got more like 28mpg. Probably due to the hamsters trying so hard to get away from the amount of ugly that car produced.

Seriously though, my car gets 31mpg hwy, has nearly twice the engine, and can pass cars in less than a 5 mile stretch. For an economy car, it didn't have much going for it

Question 2 - Fuel Injection

Question 3 - 4

Question 4 - 5 speed manual

Question 5 - So far, I'm thinking it's about 30 mpg. I've gotta really test it though. Haven't been able to do that yet.
