GTA > Saints Row
Saints row IS GTA. More specifically, it's what GTA used to be. Even more specifically, it's the best of what GTA was before it started to suck. GTA 1 through San Andreas had a satirical sense of humor and knew how to laugh at themselves and the world. GTA IV forgot that and decided to be "gritty" and serious instead. It sucked. Easily the worst GTA title of all. Multiplayer was fun for a while, but even that got old.

Saints Row brought back the early GTAs' sense of humor and over-the-topness. But SR2 is where they struck gold. The entire story mode can be played cooperatively and cheats are not disabled in multiplayer. There are so many more ways to screw around with the world in SR2 than in GTAIV. Leaning out of a limo and firing a rocket at a helicopter while a friend drives and fires his machinegun out his window at an enemy vehicle? Pure gameplay enjoyment gold.

What made GTA great was never the story, it was the world the game provided. Saints Row knows that. The story is merely a delivery device for the gameplay and never lets itself get in the way of the fun.

GTA IV was only fun in multiplayer, and its expansions were each more terrible than their predecessor.

hmm I can agree with GTA IV sucking. I didnt like it either, it was too repeditive with nothing really new. Even San Andreas got on my nerves but yes, they did have good fun creating the game. I couldnt really tell you a hard opinion about SR, Ive only seen my friend play it a few times when it was hot, and I didnt really like it. It looked too goofy and unrealistic to me. I didnt really like the gameplay or graphics either. Thats just me.

Maybe a more nutshotless trailer is required.

Theres just something about those sainstrow games I don't like, I don't know what it is. I too prefer gta. I thought IV had a pretty good sense of humor.

OH by the way, i just realized a few days ago that GTA was developed in the uk.

GTA IV was good for the first couple of hours and then it just got boring, then the first add on was broken, in that it had a tendency to break people's consoles. Haven't tried the Gay Tony add on, but I'm sure it's more of the same, just with more pen15'.

Nightmares tonight, yes. But damn, I wanna see some in-game footage of that game, will be amazing if produced by Bethesda for sure.

On another note, I definitely prefer the GTA series over the SR series. I can't say I've ever played the SR series but the complete unrealistic and joking nature of the series turned me off to it. GTA IV was really good, I miss some of the random features from San Andreas but hopefully some of those come back with GTA V.

Live-action "trailers" as advertising for videogames is stupid. I have been saying this for a very long time. In fact, there's really no better way to get me UNinterested in your game. Same with actual-people modelling for your covers rather than using in-game assets. Both cases SCREAM low-budget shovelware. There are exceptions (like Mirror's Edge, which uses a real-life model for the cover art). But in general, using live-action to pitch your game tells me there's nothing worth seeing in the game itself, or you'd be showing me that.

Also, that wasn't scary, it was cheesy and gory. And told me NOTHING about the game itself. LESS than nothing.

Call me when there's gameplay footage.

Totally understand that, and I do agree. But this, I like the idea of how the game is. Its torturous and bloody. Like we are dealing with a sick SOB. Like that sick Saw feeling that you almost just want to throw up and die. And here,

I think they have a good chance in making a really good impression. I love the truly evil human beings, and its fun to see what creators come up with in a game. Its also a good chance to get creative for the fans of blood and guts. It might also be scary and suspenseful like The Last of Us (great game!). Its aimed for the Jeepers Creepers sense of fear. I liked The Suffering for PS2 for its good bit of both.

And dont lie, the vid was awesome. Almost better as a movie.

The Suffering was a really good, unappreciated game that most people seem to have forgotten about.
