They get to pick what they want.

I personally would have rather had Dad's car.

I would have been like "what the hell dad?! A regular GT? Seriously? You could have asked me, I would have chipped in to get the Shelby 500KR! Everyone has one of these things" Looks to see an old lady driving by in a blue GT in the back ground."SEE! ARGH!"

My first car was a 69 Mach 1

srv2nvThere is a reason why the mustang outsold the camaro/firebird 2 to 1 and put them both in the grave!!! Lot of bang for the buck. Easily modified to make lots of HP. Much more reliable that a G...At least in what I've experienced!!!!Don't get me wrong, I love my G's!!! If your criteria for a great car is uniqueness, perhaps you should check out a gremlin, pacer, or pinto. I see many more G's on the road than these three!

The reason Mustang outsold Camaro and Firebird is because it was cheaper.

The reason Camaro and Firebird died is because GM is run by a bunch of idiots. They put all their performance eggs into the Corvette which 99.9% of the public can't afford.

I have loved Camaros all my life and had MANY of them. I don't like the new one at all. If I wanted a '69 Camaro, I would buy one. I want my 2008 vehicle to look sleek and modern.....hence the G in my garage instead of a 2010 Camaro.

An LT1/LS1/LSwhatever is much easier to mod than a Mustang.

Sorry SVT...I had to disagree with you on that.

I agree. The retro deail imho is a step backward for both the camaro and mustang. The G looks SO much better!!!

However, I prefer the exterior looks of the new Camaro over the new Mustang! Dislike the interiors of both!!!!!

I may be a Furd lover, but never a Chevy hater!!

As I have grown older, I have learned to love all kinds of cars. You only cheat yourself if you "hate" a whole brand of car. In my younger days....if it didn't have a bow-tie on the grill, IT WASN'T SH*T!

Love lots of cars now. I liked the Mustang better before they tweeked the corners for 2010. Yuck!

I find the new mustang and camaro to be quite nice actually. The Interiors could be better, but thats why they are priced below the G in that aspect.

The Camaro looks nice going down the street, but when it is parked next to another car, it just looks bulky and awkward. The roofline needs to be raised about 2 inches.

It is a shame the GTO was so homely. I would have loved to have had one of those.

Agreed! Still a great buy used in my opinion!!A friend had one and let me take it out. There was just a little something about it when I sat in it, I didn't feel I 'fit' in it as well as my G.

I know how well they react to modifications as a lot of my friends have a Mustang from a '65 to a bunch of fox bodys to a few with the last couple of generations. What I'm saying is his he drooled over his dads Mustang as its beautiful, rare and top model (I believe, don't quote me) and his dad goes and buys him a run of the mill GT when there is so many models above it that are much better IMO. I'm not dissing the Mustang in any way, I'm dissing the dad for cheaping out.

OK, I understand!! But, as a dad of three.....none of mine got new cars.

My deal is that I'll match the first $1k and they can make the payments. If they don't want to work, then they get a beater.....However, all of mine opted to work so that they could have a nicer ride.I do help with maintenance, insurance....etc...

I also purchased my own first car. Emptied my savings of $800 and rolled up $50 in pennies for the $850 it took to buy a used 1969 Mach 1 with 136K miles on her. This was back in 1979.So, getting ANY (almost any) new car would be for me!!!

It was forever before I had a brand new car. I think my '78 Challenger was the first car I got that was actually brand spanking new. My Camaro was the first car that was all mine that was a really fast car and had T-tops and stuff. I think that is why I am having such a hard time parting with it.

It is technically for sale, but I haven't advertised it. I just don't want some stranger buying it.

My first NEW car was a POS!!!! 84 Dodge Daytona Turbo Turd!!!

True, and i'm assuming the dad in the commercial has never bought a brand new car for any of his kids in real life either, but being a commercial you think they would have gone one up to atleast match the fathers car in unique (for the time) performance and collectability available at Ford.

Hey man, I had a white 1988 Daytona Shelby Z with T-tops! Thanks to a couple of good finds at the junk yard I had it going pretty quick, that is, when it WAS running and wasn't blowing head gaskets on a weekly basis. Its demise? Blowing the doors off a Grand Prix GTP at a stop light only to find out it also blew apart the head at the same time.

My Daytona DID run great AND got great mileage!!!The problem was reliability.... It was at the dealership twice per month for almost a year. Traded it in on a 87 T'Bird Turbo Coupe. So, I went back to Furd and stayed with them until jumping to Nissan/Infiniti.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Would have been better to open up the garage and seen a new Shelby at least.

Hey SVT...this is a yummy Mustang

I love the supercharger whistle. I wish Rambo's was a little louder. You can barely hear his. It is only 4.5 PSI. American muscle....you just can't beat the sound.

That might be going a little too far, but yes, that would be better.

Poyzinous - Mine does too, sometimes...Sometimes her "record" skips and all I hear is "you and your damn car, do some house work" all day long.

Mustangs do sound good.

I need to get a vid of my Z going under an overpass. I have Borla exhaust with the biggest plate in it and my supercharger whistle. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, who needs a radio?
