I've got a 92 240...all stock.

I just got this car and i'm gonna replace the diff oil and MTF, which is the best to use with an open diff and where can i get it for the cheapest price?

TIAJeremy

Best fluids? Motul. I swear by them now. A good place to get them from is PDM-racing but you may have to look around for the cheapest price. If you're looking for something cheaper than Redline though, don't bother looking for Motul. It's expensive stuff even compared to Redline which is already pretty expensive.

I personally run Valvoline Syntec oil and Valvoline gear oil for the transmission and diff ever since I bought the car in 2000 with 78,813 miles on it. It is now 2005 and my S14 had 157,103 miles on it and the car has given me no trouble ever. 10w30 oil, 75w90 transmission, and 80w90 rear diff! I'll admit that Motul and Redline are better but what are you doing with this car, daily driver/toy OR hard up race car/drag strip?? It's your money!

BTW, what are the capacities of the diff and the transmission?

I am pretty sure Valvoline gear oil is GL-5, which will tear up your synchros faster than a GL-4 oil such as Redline.

Must use GL4 spec oil in the MT.According to our very own Nistech the nissan syncros brass fitting get corroded with the addtives used in GL5.

Valvoline Durablend has a good GL5 rear diff fluid.Valvoline SynPower DOT3/$ is an EXCELLENT brake fluid for the money. 85% of the performance of MOYTUL for a third of the price and only a buck or so more than the discount brands.

Coolant use nissan green or Equivalent ( not US spec green, conatins silivates, toyota red is good and orange dexcool too, if used w/o any mixing with the old stuff)

Are you sure about the dexcool being ok? Suppliers design varioius seals in the engine with the spec anti-freeze that the manufacturer specifies. Switching from the spec may cause an incompatibility between the seal and the coolant. Case in point, I was involved with the sealing system design team for the new Hemi engine. One of the seals kept on failing during testing. It was discovered that a synthetic oil (I think Mobil 1) was used for the testing. They switched back to regular dyno-oil and the seal passed with flying colors. Anyway, I wasnt directly involved with the seals that touched coolant, but I vaguely remember that we had a meeting going over which rubber compounds could be used for different manufacturers(specify different coolants) and it did vary. I know from personal expericence I switched to dex-cool in my older car and it started leaking soon after.
