Good day to all,

Would anybody know of a solid replacement exhaust system for a 2002 Q45 Sport? I can't seem to find anything great online?

Right on!

Go to a decent exhaust shop and have them make one.

I'm not sure yet?

During cold morning starts, I can smell a little exhaust fumes in the interior for just a few seconds (20secs) and then it's fine. Most likely just a small leak.

Also, there is a crust of rust on the lower portion of the muffler tips. I was only curious to know what options are available for 02 Q45?

I'm a big fan of Borla exhaust but they do not have a system for my car. I'm looking for an exhaust that is quiet and freer flowing if possible.

Thanks!

Go to an exhaust shop. They'll make whatever you want. You can get whatever muffler you want. Many can make mandrel bends now.

Nissan exhausts have traditionally been very free flowing and quiet too, so much so that many young 'uns here install louder exhaust so they can sound like a Mustang V8, but never improve performance.

I've never heard a 5.0 that sounds like my G50. The closest to the G50 I've heard was my Studebaker 259 with two inch pipes and no name mufflers. Small V-8's with small pipes sound nothing like the quad-cat 5.0. Much more raspy and nasty sounding in the high revs. Quit it with the stupid Mustang references already. Are you obsessed?

Once again in response to that I'll offer the following:Mustangs sound much different from even an aggressive Q exhaust. The Q is more "exotic" sounding and the Mustang is much deeper and burblier. I love both sounds.AndWho cares if it improves performance? The sound is pleasing. Isn't that enough?

Depends on what you're looking for. Are you basically looking to ad a fart can to the Q45? Remus, Impul, Junction Produce etc will all work great if you want to add some sound to the throttle.

where in NOR CAL are u?I'm in sacto and drive to san ramon a couple oftimes a week.THe system acually works very well......making it difficult to improve on w/ aftermarket. some of us have removed the rear muffler and have stright pipes to the tips. a couple have experienced slightly better milage as a result. What I find interesting, on the 03 M45, they have a slightly different exhaust setup than the 03Q45. given the similarity in the two, I was surprised that they engineered a different system. Particularly the duals uot the rear on the M. And the M has less performance (supposedly).WHy did they spend the money on 2 suitcase rear mufflers??

Brian, did you see the post on the M site where the guy went pure dual and the post evolved into a discussion on 'cross-over and X pipes".

zer...e-pix

On the F50, right past the cats, it Ys into a single resonator the ys out into 2 small mufflers and finally duals into the single suitcase muffler. If I remember, the M didnt have the single pipe resonator.....

Greetings,

Nice work on your M! It was entertaining to read all the interesting comments throughout the entire thread. It really does make you wonder why the stock 'X' setup was done the way it was. Are you happy with the results to your custom set up?

I'm in Santa Rosa, and I think I'm the only 02 Q45 Sport in town! I was hoping that Borla would have made a set-up for our cars, but do not. Borlas from my experience make the finest mandrell-bending-free-flowing-set-up on the market, not the mention the beautiful craftsmanship and that sweet and exotic humm. It was great to hear all the different experiences, and I did learn a lot-- right on!

By the way, my boss drives an 2006 M45 and what a sweet ride, I'm just not so crazy about the design.

Lastly, did you hear that Infiniti is coming out with an all new 'big-body' Q45 in 2010?
