You can either turbo your KA or swap in a SR20det

It depends entirely on your budget and mechanical experience. Use the search feature.. there about 10,000 threads on the which engine is better.

or u can go rb, 2jz, ls, ca... u dont need a lot of power to drift, u just need to know how to do it... power is useless if u dont know how to drift

slap a turbo on ur ka along with some other goodies n when u get experience, get the power.. just some suggestions..

^x2 you really dont need much to get sideways. i have a stock ka24e with a welded diff and have no problem drifting with it.

You want to know why the KA is the best option for you? You already have it. Build the KA and you're good to go.

Need motivation?

SRs and KATs are for people who suck at drifting. The only way to take advantage of your awesome drifting skillz is a full blown Merlin swap. I mean c'mon, if you cant clutch kick it sideways at 50 in 12th, how cool are you?

while the merlin is nice, i wqould opt for the BS13....

thats Briggs & Straton 13hp.......moar light weight to keep the handling balance in check and prevent understeer from too much forward weight...

LS3. Lighter than a KA, 400 hp stock, probably gets the same gas milage.

I'd stick with the KA considering you already have it. For starters you should more so focus on a nice suspension set up. That will make or break your drifting. If you plan to only drift the car then do as many deletions as you can to clean up the engine bay and relocate whatever you can to the rear of the car to get as close to a 50/50 front to rear weight ratio. (not everyone I know goes for that weight set up so I guess it's all preference and what works best for you) Do some simple mods like intake and cat back in between all that THEN start looking into a turbo set up. Just my 2¢

Take care of your suspension first. Get a good diff, I love my KAAZ 2-way but it depends on your preference. Run the stock KA for a season or two till you're really comfortable drifting and the lack of power is holding you back. I did very well on just a stock KA with IHE. After that you can start looking for swaps or turbo options.

ca18det. cheap, reliable, bulletproof, good top end, fairly easy to upgrade, stock fuel rail holds 450hp, ecu is easily tuned, cheap heavy upgrade parts like a stroker kit for 2 grand off of tomei if you can find one or norris designs. ca20det cheaper and s*** on upgraded sr's all day v8's are nose heavy reguardless of what people say they weigh, plus boost is better than being n/a and its oem turbo engines so no need to worry if you hit 12lbs on a t25 parts are dirt cheap. so unless you wanna spend 5 grand on an lsx engine swap and custom fabricating s*** then dont do it

WOW :spitout: This thread really has it ALL!!

-You got the broke folk with ka's sayin ka's are sick cuz they have one, they won't tell you they drift in the rain, and don't go to tracks due to the na ka embarrassment.

- Next up is the guy with a v8 that will claim things that arent even true to make his motor look superior.

-Then, typical ca lover that says a bored and stroked ca (20) is cheaper than an sr20.....ok maybe thats not typical just lame.

-Oh and the typical v8 haters, that literally dont have a reason to hate.

But in all seriousness dont ask people about motor swaps. Just do dome research, motors are all personall preference.

I slide my sr just because thats what i switched to once my ka blew up, and since i like them i've got 3 of them, and i'll slide with my vq here and there. I'm really not biased anymore what motor i use, just find one that suits you and enjoy it!!

Read a little closer impact. I'm saying get some skill before you go crazy with a swap. I started the KA, I swapped to an SR...Big effin Deal. BTW I have competed with the KA and did just fine in my first two events placing 5th in both out of 32 with entry fields over 200 a few a few years ago.

Well first off he didnt say that money was an otion, and obviously if he's considering motor swaps he isn't reallly enjoying the lack of power. I wish I would have swapped to sr to begin with. I wasted alot of money with ka's before going sr.

And it still doesn't change my suggestion, Find out what motor you prefer then make your preference a reality.

And spec-u-later you might be the exception to the rule but i deal with "KIDS" all the time running their mouth about how sick there ka is/was and how sr is a waste of time, but the reality is a stock ka on average doesn't really cut it.
