Best filter will always be a factory Nissan filter. The next best would something higher end like a Wix, those are known to be good.
Best oil has two parts. Best viscosity is what the factory recommends (sticker under the hood and in the owners manual). I usually use 10w30 year round but, you being in NY, you might need something different as the winters there are probably colder than here in Kansas.
As for brand, I personally like Castrol GTX but everyone has their favorite. I'd stick with a decent name brand and just be sure to change regularly and you won't have any issues.

Mobil 1 and Mobil M1 filter is what I use. I think that the OEM filters are good... but I am not sure about them being the best, I mean they do make mad money off that stuff when you bring in an oil change to a nissan Dealer. They got to make money some how on a filter.

I cleaned my engine today and i put mobil 1 synthetic oil. The car runs so smooth you cant even notice if its even turned on. big big difference
