Hi All,

Test drove the '06 M35X a few weeks ago and fell in love. I'm looking for the best possible deal on one with Bose Studio on Wheels and <36k miles. Was interested in the Navi as well, but based on the reviews that I've read it seems I would be better off with a $200 Garmin.

Anyway, I've been shopping since the test drive and have come across absolutely no private party ads for this vehicle. Somewhat expected given the demographic that purchases this car brand new, but maybe I am looking in the wrong places? I've tried craigslist and oodle.com (aggregate of classifieds). Is there any place else that may have private party ads?

I'm also going to a dealer auction in the coming weeks. Has anyone had any luck in finding this vehicle there?

Thanks in advance!

Try expanding your search to Florida and Alabama.

For whatever reasons, there is a huge number of off-lease M35 in that area and most of them are Southern cars that never spent a day in the rust belt. Prices are also much more reasonable than local dealers. Good luck on the search.

Try looking at http://www.cars.com or http://www.autotrader.com. That would give you a good idea of what is on dealer's lots. Expand your search out to 500 miles. This arena is all retail pricing.

Most off lease Infiniti's go to auction in Florida or Tennessee. If you have access to a dealer that would be your best bet (wholesale pricing).

It would be best to plan on having a vehicle shipped from a different state as part of the purchase plan. That would open up many possibilities for purchases. Think $1 per mile (that is on the very high side).

I found my private party on E-Bay. I had fly out to pick it up-but well worth it.

Go in to an Infiniti dealer and flat out tell them to find you the exact car you are looking for and tell them the price you are willing to pay. Be sure to include new tires, new brake pads, and that you want it Certified. Be sure to ask for the exact options you want. They will find it for you. Just don't budge when they call and tell you they found one but for such and such a price. Stick to your guns and you will get what you want at the price you think is fair. If you are not willing to be patient, then expect to pay more unless you are lucky!.

Let the dealer do the work. They are motivated to help right now!

I guess what I'm saying is it's worth an extra $1,000 to get the car through Infiniti (unless you have the time and have the background to know a great car when you see one). I don't regret one minute doing that back in March and I have a car that is running great and works well (knock on wood!). I realize the dealers will try and get $3,000 more from you than a private sale, but they will work with you if you stick to your guns. Let them do the leg work!

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Because of the difficulty in finding the exact model at the price point that I'm willing to pay, I've reconsidered my requirement to buy with the Advanced Tech package for the Bose Studio on Wheels. I've started a new thread regarding this-

Thanks again.
