Looking for the best price for online tires for Mich Pilot H or V rated 225/60/15 or 235/60/15. Open to suggestions if any other tire has been tried and performs well under the 2.5 ton Q45 (need 98 load rating at least). I currently have 20k on my Yoko AVS Int. and I need replacements pretty quick...especially before cold weather.

Welcome to the boards! If you're running AVS Inter. I would assume you are not near snow. I would look at the Michelin XGT H4 in the 235 size or the Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP in the 225/60-15. If you decide to go with the 225/60-15, stick with at 32-35 psi cold pressure for the best results. That would be my top pick for this setup.

I also strongly recommend the Firestone SZ50EP in a 225/60-15. Awesome tire for the Q! I tried mine at 34psi and ended up finally running them at 36psi for the optimal wear and handling.

Best tire I have ever used for wet weather conditions and road quietness!

Oh, yes! I forgot to mention - the best price I have seen for them (the SZ50EP's) is at Tire Rack. So, check out http://www.tirerack.com ... Grant works there so he has to be a bit more non-committal :) , but I would strongly recommend calling him and placing the order directly with him!

I would echo Grant with a recommendation for the SZ50 EP over the Yokohama AVS dB S2 in 225/60-15. Michelin XGT V4 would be third, and Michelin XGT H4 fourth. The last three are all season.

I've experienced all on a Q 45 except except XGT H4 (1st 3 generations on an Acura Legend before abandoning them). SZ50 EP are still new, but impressive so far.

Hi, Brian. I mostly agree. My ranking would be similar - adding one tire that you did not list, but swap the XGT H4 and XGT V4 positions:

1. Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP2. Yokohama AVS dB S2 OR Continental ContiExtremeContact3. Michelin Pilot XGT H44. Michelin Pilot XGT V4

All above are in 225/60-15. Of course, the H4 is also available in 235/60-15 and this is definitely preferred over the 225/60-15.

FWIW, personally, I would not consider the XGT V4 at all - the wet handling leaves a lot to be desired. Dennis (Q45Tech) recommends the XGT H4, and it does have a different tread, rubber compound, etc., so it may well be fine compared to the V4. That is why I put it higher than the V4.

I think the XGT V4 is slightly better than the XGT H4 in the wet, and better in the dry. It is a softer compound.

The XGT H4 is the best feet tire built, but is not a high performance tire anymore, in my experience.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Whoa! :shocked2

If the XGT V4 is better than the XGT H4 in wet, I will stay far away from the XGT H4 too! My experiences with the XGT V4 were way too scary in the occasional rain we see here (on oily roads, first rain days are dangerous!)
